My DW wife and I are going on cruise to Alaska in June on the Ruby out of Pier 91, we do this every year. We are both elite and have priority boarding. This year we are taking another couple with us who have never cruised before, Blue cards, cruise virgins. I get the feeling that they are scared about the whole embarkation process. Would it be possible for us to be their tour guide, escort and have them check in at the same time we check in and have them board at the same time we do?

Pier 91 at Seattle has a very small terminal building and, depending on a number of factors, the preferred embarkation area is often times much too small to accommodate all those who qualify for using that area. The normal policy at Pier 91 is to limit those using that area to those who are qualified for that benefit plus guests who are in the same cabin, and not all the other members of the qualified cruisers family/party/friends/etc. Those who are qualified for that benefit are normally told that they are certainly welcome to accompany their other guests and board through use of the regular boarding cue. That way they can act as their friends' escort through their new world of cruising.

That is thought to be the fair thing to do for all involved.

Princess is often not as clear as they could be on such matters. However this time, they appear to have provided all of us with a definitive set of guidelines. This section applies to Platinum and Elite.

Pretty darn clear to me with little if any grey areas.

Priority Check-In at Embarkation
When you arrive at the port, don’t wait in line. You, along with your family or guests that are traveling with you in the same stateroom will be invited to use the Priority Check-In desk to help expedite your embarkation.

So, really, there is no reason for anyone to ask for or expect special favors.

Maybe Princess needs to remind the contracted terminal workers, as well as passengers, of this policy.

Yep, the verbage removes all doubt.

Misread....   Rewriting my post to say that it used to be that friends could check-in with you, but not necessarily be in the same boarding group.  This info makes it seem like cannot even check-in together.

Never heard of this in practice.  For example, parents are Platinum/Elite and children not and kids staying in own cabin.  All check-in together - and I bet board together.  Always exceptions with Princess.

You earned your status just as everyone else that has achieved that level and deserve any and all perks.  However, if every couple brought another 2, 3 or 4 people and wanted that same privilege for their guests, it dilutes the integrity of the program. I know they at times make concessions for elderly parents traveling with you or minor children traveling in another cabin.

Back to OP. Please. They cannot be so naive to fear this. Let them know what will happen (arrive to port / check in / wait in comfortable area with others who can afford to cruise / drop bags in room / meet you on ship). They're not in the hood (not disparaging hood but this really is multiple times better)

I would simply wait with my friends and all board together. I don't really have to be so "important" that I need to use priority boarding. It's really not that big of a deal and I've never been a fan of "cutting in line". Everybody should simply wait their turn and be adult about it.

It really doesn't matter because boarding is fast for everyone. Now if it's a medallion ship ( first time in a particular port) embarking may take longer if any guests have not done their check in with the Medallion app. The process is new to everyone so it may be slower. Being patient with the new process is key. Everyone will get on. 😊
