First timer Questions/ Haven Related

Hi all,

 

Going to sound like dumb questions... 

 

1- How rushed is getting onto the boat? We are in the haven. Will it be ridiculous- what is the best time for us to board?

2- Are we each allowed a "carry on" or do we have to check all our luggage? 

3- What times are rooms usually ready?

4- What is the latest you can get on the boat?

 

Anything else I should know???

Not rushed at all going into the Haven.  They have a separate waiting area. What ship are you on?  That will determine where they take you.  You can carry on all of your luggage if you like.  The rooms are ready by 1:00 pm.  The latest you can get on is determined by what time your ship sets sail.

Just based on our Haven experience:

1.  We arrived early and waited in line for Security like everyone else.  As soon as we cleared Security, there was a special check in room for Haven.  They then escorted us to a special waiting area with plush chairs and breakfast food to wait.  We were the first people escorted onto the ship and were brought staright to the Haven Lounge.  Very easy process.

2.  Both my wife and I each had a carry on and each checked a large bag.

3.  Once we were done with the Concierge introduction in the Lounge, we were able to drop our carry ons in our room, where we met our Room Steward.  By the time we had finished lunch in the Haven restaurant, our room was ready.

4.  The latest you need to board is usually 2 hours before sail away time.

 

Other things:

-  Meet your Butler the first day and let them know what snacks you like and which you don't.  They can work miracles if you get a good one.

-  We found the Haven restaurant better than the specialties.  They will make you items that are not on the menu if they have the ingredients available.

-  We loved hanging out in the Haven lounge!  Met some wonderful people that made our trip a great memory.

1. No rush to get on board. Though you will have to queue to get through security and checks. Once past that you need to look for Haven check in and bypass the crowds.

 

2. Take a carry on with you as your room won't be ready before at least 13:00. Make sure you have your passport, change of clothes or swim suit and any other necessities you need.

 

3. It is usually 2 hours before departure. 

 

Any other questions just ask

is security anything like airports? do they have "clear" or pre check. lol

Actually, we just did Haven in Miami, as long as you show up after the security is in place, take your bags to a Porter, and tell them you are haven.  They have a special tent/stand outside where another person checks you in and hands you the security forms to fill out.  They then escort you through security, skipping all the lines, and straight to the haven waiting area.  After that what everyone else said is exactly our experience.  Worth every penny, going to have a hard time cruising without it, which is going to make vacationing a little more expensive for us!  

We got there around 10:30AM, not sure what time the lines open up, but we were on the ship before anyone else, as described above.

To answer your new question, security is a body scanner and a luggage xray machine.

This is new information.  I've never sailed in the Haven from Miami but will be doing so on Saturday.  Is the "special tent" clearly marked along the curb or do you have to find a porter to take you to it?  Thank you!

I did not see it, the porter walked me over, BUT, it did say haven check in.  It just wasn't obvious.  I should tell you the line was out the terminal and down the street when we got there, expect to get a few stares when you just slip through and to the front.  Not everyone understands all the perks a Haven guest gets.   🙂

Carry on are no problem

We boarded at 11:00am and our cabin was ready at 11:30am

So,,, remember that the big ships out of Miami are in temporary terminal space while NCL builds its new terminal. The Haven tent is there because they don’t have the space or waiting rooms like the old terminal. The Haven tent is really makeshift (something my kid would sell lemonade out of).

In Barcelona there is no tent, makeshift or otherwise. You need to queue like everyone else until after security. Everyone in the same queue.

 

Unless this is a new thing to compete against MSC'S yacht club.

In Copenhagen, the larger ships actually board from two different terminals.  I'm sure that somewhere in the NCL paperwork, it indicated which terminal Haven guests are to board.  Of course, we were dropped at the wrong terminal.  That mistake resulted in a delay boarding as our keys were at the other terminal and had to be retrieved or remade.  DUH......

So is the terminal NCL is currently using clearly marked as you enter the port? Is the parking garage still the same one as in the past?
