hobbyfarmer2 Posted March 5, 2020 #26 Share Posted March 5, 2020 A very large person cut into the line and pulled a few extra strips of bacon straight from the pan with their fingers last year on the Regal. The bacon was for the spouse. The man behind the baconist raised his voice saying "....you gotta be kidding..." (some words deleted). A woman a couple back defended the baconist saying it was OK with her as she loved thick bacon sandwiches. Makes us want to avoid the buffet as much as possible - too risky.

What is wrong with people? Do they not learn basic hygiene when they are children? Maybe cruise lines need to have a written exam regarding hygiene that needs to be passed 100% before issuing tickets.

I wish they would put up a sign that says sit down and eat... seriously, I can’t stand the people who “nibble” through the buffet. There was a lady who had an ear of corn she was eating and walking around the buffet...no plate, just walking and eating. Don’t know where she ditched the ear. That is just tacky and nasty behaviour and very ill mannered.

Your idea is a good one! Include such a "lesson" in the on-board safety video that all ships seem to have and are sometimes part of a Muster Drill.

gatorguy56 Posted March 6, 2020 #35 Share Posted March 6, 2020 (edited) This is the exact reason I don’t eat in the buffet. I saw on the news today that buffet staff on the Grand were gloved (I don’t remember if they also had on masks) and serving the people what the people would point to. However for me I thought it was common sense, so maybe I do not remember all the details. Plus, we were already in drinking vacation mode 😛 More reason I guess to make it stand out as importance, right? I do what I can to NOT get sick. lol 6 minutes ago, brisalta said: With a written exam afterwards. Then, I would have informed the nearest buffet employee. Absolutely that is the action to take then that person should be taken to "the plank". The person before who licked their fingers or picked their nose before touching the tongs or serving spoons, the spit or boogers will stay on my disposable gloves, not my hands. I consider that a HUGE win for me.

Bemidji Ty Posted March 7, 2020 #46 Share Posted March 7, 2020 (edited) You could carry a sports whistle, blow it loudly and say in a loud authoritarian voice, "We have a code red in the buffet at the bread station. I need security to detain this passenger. And I need a supervisor to remove the contaminated food for the safety of our fellow passengers! Now!!! Let's do this people." Just an idea. 😉 Cheers Edited March 7, 2020 by Bemidji Ty
