Mexico will welcome cruises with open arms.

The headline notwithstanding, the article says nothing about Mexico in general and is just referring to the Yucatan, and specifically Progresso.

It essentially says we'll welcome cruise ships when cruise ships are welcome.

The more important issue is whether one should even travel to the Yucatan. The US Embassy says the Yucatan has one of the highest COVID-19 infection rates in Mexico: https://mx.usembassy.gov/health-alert-mexico-covid-19-update-05-27-2020/

Health Alert – U.S. Embassy Mexico City, Mexico (May 27, 2020)

Location:  Mexico

Event:  Mexico COVID-19 Update (May 27, 2020)

The number of confirmed and suspected cases is still increasing daily in several regions of Mexico.  Mexico City, Tabasco, Yucatan, Baja California and Tlaxcala currently report the highest incident rates of active cases (incident rate is the number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days).  Hospital occupancy rates are also increasing, with the highest levels in Guerrero, Mexico City, Mexico State, Baja California, and Hidalgo.  Mexican health authorities have reiterated calls for people to stay home during this time.

Mexico will welcome cruises with open arms.

Where are these MAJOR cruise lines sailing from to get to Mexico?  Hopefully not a democratic run state like New York.  And will the cruise ships be allowed to return from a foreign country?  I know, sail out of New York and return to Florida.  Let the disembarking ports worry about the virus.

P.S.  Welcome to Cruise Critic.  Where have you been the last two months?  We need more optimism with the littlest information.  You are the messenger.   Re opening has nothing to do with the cruise lines.  The cruise lines will say yes to anything to get there business running again.  It is in the government hands

The cruise lines plans are to sail from the southern ports of the US. Nothing to do with politics.  Northern states got hit harder.

Which southern ports?  Puerto Rico?  Could you please be specific.  And yes politics plays a big part.  If you do not think so then you are silly.  This whole virus lock down is based on politics.  Some cities open and democratic cities closed.  Politics keep moving the goal posts.

Dont shoot the messanger.  I think many ports will be  welcoming back cruises .

Welcome new guy, you might want to know these are very friendly boards.  Plenty of messengers, no anger in any of them.

So when is your next booked cruise, in August?  Are you booked with NCL or another line?

Gotta love his enthusiasm though!  If nothing else, it has kept me entertained during the shut down.

He is back, Seaman11, liking 3 posts on this thread, but none of Navyskip's posts.
