Redrobo Posted August 13, 2020 #26 Share Posted August 13, 2020 New Zealand thoughts they were clear of Covid, 110 days later they have an outbreak. Nothing is certain these days. Italy has given permission to MSC to sail again. "The MSC Grandiosa and MSC Magnifica are to set sail on Aug. 16 and Aug. 29 from Genoa and Bari, respectively, to sites in Italy, Malta and Greece in a high-stakes gamble for the industry that Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has called a "fundamental part of our economy". Yes, it's one of the staple destinations for Brits seeking some winter sun. Once you get to the Canaries, the weather is often nice and warm, but the Bay of Biscay can be dicey, so you can have 'interesting' weather on the journey out and back. My main cruise line is P&O and usually two or three of their ships sail from Southampton in the winter, and typically do the Canaries, Northern Lights cruises to Norway, and 'Christmas Markets cruises to places like Denmark and Germany. P&O's other ships are either based in the Caribbean for the winter, or do longer cruises like a World Cruise or sail round South America.

P&O who predominantly sail from Southampton have announced cruises suspended until November 12th. I suspect that will be pushed back to December at the earliest.

Hello, Yes they do - but not just the Canaries. Those that like the cold as well as the heat (or at least warmth) are catered for with cruises going north. But the Canaries are the most popular for Christmas. Regards, Cublet
BigAl94 Posted August 14, 2020 #44 Share Posted August 14, 2020 Canary Islands have today introduced very severe mask wearing laws and a smoking ban so can't imagine cruise ships docking this winter
