1emerald1 Posted July 5, 2020 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2020 Vancouver to Whittier, which side of the ship has the best cabins for viewing? Thanks!
Rare Essiesmom Posted July 5, 2020 #2 Share Posted July 5, 2020 A frequently asked question. It makes no difference. When you are not in the Inside Passage, you will be too far from shore to see anything distinctly think 10 miles or more. When there is something to see, it will be on both sides of the ship and you will want to be on deck where you can move side to side as the naturalist or captain announces wildlife sightings. Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted July 5, 2020 #3 Share Posted July 5, 2020 Starboard side will have more land views going that direction.

LoriPhil Posted July 5, 2020 #5 Share Posted July 5, 2020 We always cruise Northbound on the port side. Great views coming into glacier bay, and equally beautiful views while in the true inside passage. Like seeing the sunsets from our cabin.
Rare Coral Posted July 5, 2020 #6 Share Posted July 5, 2020 I have been in the same cabin for both NB and SB and can't tell the difference. Scenery is great on both sides.
donaldsc Posted July 5, 2020 #7 Share Posted July 5, 2020 The best side for viewing is topside on the deck. That way you get to move from side to side. DON
1emerald1 Posted July 5, 2020 Author #8 Share Posted July 5, 2020 I absolutely plan on being up on deck. I like to have coffee on my balcony in the morning and if it's raining I might sit on the balcony, that's why I'm wondering. Thanks everyone. Rare Ken the cruiser Posted July 6, 2020 #9 Share Posted July 6, 2020 Ideally, for us an aft-facing cabin offers the best views of both sides. The key is to book early enough to get one.
wolfie11 Posted July 6, 2020 #10 Share Posted July 6, 2020 If you are lucky enough to have good weather coming out of Glacier Bay and heading north along the coast, starboard is definitely good for the views of the Fairweather Range.
LeeW Posted July 11, 2020 #11 Share Posted July 11, 2020 They announce animal sightings all the time but they are always on the other side of the ship. We spend most of our time in the Lotus Pool area on Island or Coral, and even then the critter is often gone by the time we get out of our lounger and over to that side. We did obstructed ocean view for last two trips (up and back). Only problem was off-key vocals from the Explorer Lounge stage below us in evenings - avoid that area. Cabin was about $1000 each way cheaper than a balcony.

DON I actually like the promenade deck. Covered and not crowded. Easy to go from side to side also.
Papa Yoda Posted July 12, 2020 #13 Share Posted July 12, 2020 Coral Princess - aft deck 8, 9, 10, or 11 have mostly covered deck area with chairs or loungers. Thrak likes OV B728 or B731, OV cabins right near door to go out on Baja deck:
