rucrazy Posted August 4, 2021 #376 Share Posted August 4, 2021 I am sure glad we canceled our holiday b2b... just don't feel comfortable boarding in FL just now. Hopefully 2022 will look, a lot safer for cruise travel

One for masking and one for presenting a negative test at check-in. I was referring to the indoor masking policy in my post, which indeed is August 7. The testing requirement begins August 14. From the CCL updated website: MASKS & PHYSICAL DISTANCING (Effective with sailings departing August 7, 2021) We strongly encourage all guests to wear face masks when indoors, particularly guests who are unvaccinated, including children under the age of 12 who should wear masks in public areas, except when eating or drinking. All guests age 2 and older will be required to wear face masks in elevators and in designated indoor entertainment areas, all retail shops, and in the casino, except when eating or drinking. Guests will be required to wear face masks prior to being seated in our main dining rooms and in the Lido Buffet area and occasionally in other designated areas where larger number of guests may congregate (signs will be posted). Additionally, masks are required at any indoor activity with children under 12 years, (i.e., Build-A-Bear®, Family Harbor, Sky Zone®) https://www.carnival.com/legal/covid-19-legal-notices/covid-19-guest-protocols You couldn’t pay me to board any cruise line with this wording and these lax protocols.

I just booked a NCL cruise and everyone needs to be vaccinated, as well as take a covid test upon embarkation. Before others tell me that you can still get covid, I get that, but I go to the supermarket on a regular basis too. You can get it anywhere. I'm comfortable with the fact that all passengers and crew must be vaccinated, no exceptions.

I don't know anything about NCL or their policies since we've never sailed them nor are likely to, but we are booked on 3 HAL cruises between the end of August and the end of the year. We like their protocols and knowing they're 100% vax'd cruises. I was talking specifically about the above quote that someone posted about Carnival. Speaking of grocery stores, we're both fully vax'd (Pfizer) since early April and we just donned masks for the first time since mid-May to go to Costco and were very impressed at the number of other shoppers that were also wearing them. Me too. We had 3 HAL cruises canceled this year, so we too love HAL. But, we've sailed NCL many times, as well, and I like their strict policy. I have more HAL cruises booked; I hope they stay strict.

Rare Vict0riann Posted August 4, 2021 #382 Share Posted August 4, 2021 New rules today for HAL, too, covid tests and masking, on top of being fully vaccinated. https://www.hollandamerica.com/en_US/worry-free-promise/travel-well.html
syesmar Posted August 7, 2021 #383 Share Posted August 7, 2021 (edited) I saw this Q&A under the new FAQs on the Travel Well page (posted yesterday): https://www.hollandamerica.com/en_US/worry-free-promise/travel-well.html#FAQ “Q: Will onboard team members be vaccinated? A: Onboard team member vaccinations will be in accordance with CDC guidelines.” Could someone familiar with them post these guidelines? Thanks. I believe the CDC guidelines are you are considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after your second Moderna or Pfizer shot or 2 weeks after your Johnson & Johnson shot.

Yes. I believe HAL is referring to specific guidelines for onboard team members, outlined by the CDC. I don't know what that percentage is. I know for 2021, all passengers must be fully vaccinated. Just curious about this statement, as it's the first I've seen mention of this from HAL. Edited August 7, 2021 by syesmar

If the answer is that CDC requires it, good. But that wasn't the answer. I hope someone is able to report that HAL is definitely requiring all staff and team members to be vaccinated.

As part of the CDC CSO, I believe they only required 98% of the crew to be vaccinated. If that is so, then the answer to the question whether ALL on-board team members will be vaccinated is NO.
