haha - Phil I have my pedantry hat on today but I might want to go and see her sail off - given her proximity to Glasgow Airport, take off might be a wee concern 🤣🤣🤣

Pass these 3 ships every day going to/from work.

It will be good to see them go and get back to some form of normality and hopefully i myself will be able to cruise again soon.

However, yesterday was the Feast of Stella Maris - the Catholic Charity which supports and visits seafarers in the UK and around the World. The Deacon was telling us that he has visited many vessels over the past year and has made visits to the Azamara ships handing out essential supplies and items to the crew as well as providing religious services. They've not all had an easy experience.

So whilst we are all desperate to cruise again, we should also think more of the crew who've been stranded in Glasgow for over 14 months and unable to get home and experienced hardships that we've probably not even considered ourselves. They're not all as well known or as photogenic as Captain Kate, so spare a thought for them.

Phil, I've been following your posts for a while. The ship has obviously been in "dry dock" since cruising was stopped. This dry docking that they are leaving, was there any refurbishment being done during this rather dry period? I think it was Journey that was scheduled to have the casino removed, but was anything else involved? Anyone?

They have not been in dry dock, they have been in lay up in a wet dock, unlikely any work was done other then essential maintenance.

The dry docks are to be carried out in Cadiz, that will be the ship's first destination after Glasgow.

To ready themselves for sailing a lot of maintenance is being done by the officers and crew now including painting and rust removal so they will look a lot better by the time they get to Cadiz.

As has been said, they have been in lay up rather than dry dock which is different. Journey will need a little longer as she is being "Denified". There are a lot of barnacles on the hulls that will need scraping off, aircon and other systems checked over etc.

Yes, I've thought a lot about them over the past year or so. I have quite a few that I'm friends with via Facebook. And it's not just those in Glasgow. It's all of them from countries around the world stuck at home and trying to make ends meet any way they can. And to provide for their families. They earned good money on the ships, away from home for months at a time being their sacrifice.

There is a little bit of work being done on the Quest in preparation for drydock.  I believe the work has begun to add the cabins on deck 4, and the pool area has been retiled

Do you mean Journey? I was on Quest in 2019 and the new cabins were on Deck 4.

Would that be July 26? Any idea what time they depart? I`d like to give them a wave .I know of a great spot under the Erskine bridge. Next time I see the ship I`ll be joining in Miami..I hope
