Room TBA

Recommended Posts

Yes, this is a "guaranteed" room.  Meaning you have allowed them to choose your room for you.  Usually saves some $$$ doing this, but it is a mixed bag of where you might end up.  Usually in the "less than" desirable locations that are left over.

We have done this in the past when we go "down and dirty" as we put it and just do a quick get away as cheap as possible.  Sometimes it is pretty quick, like within a week or two.  Other times it make take a while.  A lot will depend on how far out you are booked as to when you will get the room assigned.

We've done it successfully numerous times.  In pre-covid, often assignments would be about 3-4 weeks before sailing.  While it's never happened to us, some have told stories of finding out at the pier.

I've had two instances of finding out at the pier -- on the Carnival Valor and the Disney Dream. Neither was a biggie. Our room was just fine for what we needed.

I do wish they'd do GTY room assignments at check-in time ... not having a cabin number when we dropped bags was stressful, but at least it all worked out fine.

I've had one time at the pier solo and was a pita solo. I couldnt check in without the cabin number and couldnt do something else, so was back and forth between baggage check and check in.

Baggage check has a book with all cabin assignments is why you have to go there before you can check in. I didnt have baggage to check.

I have had some cabins less than wonderfull. A quad in a older ship with the bars that came down so hard to sit up and read. Newer ships the bunks are in the ceiling.

Once below the kitchen which is noisy.

The reason I brought this up is that we had G1 room on the Elation, which was facing forward with

a set of three windows with blinds that opened with a pushbutton, it was on oceanview but a

really nice room. so when they canceled the Elation and swapped with the Magic, received an email stating that we had a catagory  6S TBA on the Magic, which when I looked up the category on the Magic, it was an oceanview on the Spa Deck, being a Spa room, but still no cabin number, was told by Carnival that they are still arranging rooms, for spacing and other covid requirements, so just wanted to know how long before we get a room assigned, since we check in next week.

Oh, that's sucky!  We love the front face Scenic Ocean View rooms on the ships that have them (the corner Grand Scenic are the BEST).  Looks like 6S is a Spa Walkway view.  Which means it should be 11204, 11202,  11201, or 11203.

Hopefully they hold true to that and you get one of those and they weren't booked by someone else already.  But if it says 6S it should be one of these 4 I believe, they are the only ones I see on the deck plan.

I have a Gty Balcony booked on the Celebration Inaugural TA so im crossing my fingers its ok for 14 days lol. Just being on the ship will probably negate any issues with where the room is located to me.

I’m in a similar situation—have a GTY Balcony on a Panama Canal repositioning on Freedom; also 14 days. Makes me super nervous, but there was nothing else to book at the rate I had, and I really want to do the cruise, so I went with it.

14 days!  If the room is bad, I’ll finally put that old adage “but you don’t spend any time in your room” really to the test.

Just be aware that you might be allocated a connecting cabin.

These can be really noisy.

I have  a connecting cabin.  It's the people next to me that need to worry about noise.  When I come in at night, after the casino, I put TV on.  Could be anywhere from 12 to 2.  I'm get up early.  TV goes on.

Have you been assigned yet?

I have a gty inside booked on Celebration in January. This will be my 3rd Carnival cruise since the restart and I took upsell offers to balconies on the other 2. Room assignments were given about a month before sailing and upsell offers came about a week before.

No assignment yet for the Celebration cruise
