RCCL picks room is MORE expensive?

Thinking of doing a last minute 4 night out of Miami in October and surprised to see that letting them pick my room is more expensive? Does this mean I might have a better chance of an upgrade or just a fluke? Trying to figure out which way to go.

Pock the  cheapest option. It goes both ways and either can be cheaper. I wouldnt read into it that you might or might not get a upgrade.

See it quite often. More strange is how often you select the pick your room option and is just goes to the guarantee option as only being available.

On RCL uk site if you have a 2nd room then they Always charge more to pick own room. 

 

In fact our American friends have much better deals, can ammend prices if found cheaper and have better options then those of us outside of the US.

If you are booking a Junior Suite, and the pricing is showing more for them picking your room, they have many Grand, Owner, and other suites available that you have a good likely hood of getting booked into.  Same thing with Balcony to Balcony Comfort categories.  We had this situation and ended up in a Owners Suite for the price of them picking our Junior Suite as a guarantee.

Right now, on Indy, they have a “we pick” or “you pick” balcony selection. If you go to “you pick”, it says OV Balcony Guarantee but it’s almost $200 more than “we pick”.

It happens.  The revenue mgmt engine is automated.  Sometimes it goes wonky.  It's not like they have a human watching every cabin type on every sail date.

I've seen this as well and chalked it up to IT mishaps.  Makes no sense but **ship** happens.
