No More Mad Rush to Embark Carnival ships?

So, if there’s no smoking in the casino, or anywhere else inside, and no smoking outside while docked on embarkation day because of refueling, I’m curious if people won’t want to get on earlier since there won’t be smoking until pulling away from the dock at 4 pm? Thoughts?  How long does it take to refuel?

The wanna be first crowd will be there you can bet on that. Nothing to do with smoking rule, most of those rules will be ignored anyways.

There was no smoking during embarkation on our Magic cruise and I didn’t see anyone ignoring the rules. I heard some complaints but staff made it clear you’d be removed if you lit up.

There hasn’t been smoking allowed in the casino or on smoking deck embarkation day since the reboot, it doesn’t seem to have slowed down the masses in trying to board first.

No smoking in the casinos until at least February  according to the e'mail we got Friday night.

When I was on the Magic in November, there were plenty smoking in the casino. They were sitting right next to me. Do you mean there was no smoking in the casino just on embarkation day?

We noticed this person with several others everyday smoking on their balcony. Sometimes it was a whacky weed. Needless to say, we stopped using our balcony. No, I didn't report it, a complete waste of time.

When did the fuel barge arrive?  How much fuel did the ship burn over the last cruise or two?  These questions will determine when the "smoking light is out" on deck, and will also depend on which fuel barge is used.  It will be probably a minimum of 4 hours, and up to 8 hours.

I thought the mad rush was all the people wanting to get on the ship so they could drink their 15 drinks, be super drunk, and now remember the rest of the day 🙂

Honestly my roll call sounds like a bunch of alcoholics.

Every single one of them boasting about a 10:30am check in wants to get on the ship to drink. Nothing to do with smoking at all.

Doesn't sound like the sip and cover gang.

Now wait a minute.  I’ve been one of those people who drives 8 hours, spends the night and drives 8 more, hauling tons of luggage and kids.   The reason some of us want to be on there asap is because of the energy it takes to get there.  Some people just are lucky enough to drive over to the port.

Same with the first off crowd. Some people have an 8-10 hour drive ahead of them.

And an hour relaxing on the ship changes what?

Still not really a reason to have to be first on. I mean if it makes your day or trip better, than by all means.

For me, I'm generally at my hotel that morning. We will stay by that pool/beach/city generally as long as we can and start to board somewhere between 12-1. There is too much chaos on the ship in the first few hours. I also have no where to put my stuff. I would also much rather spend the extra money on an extra vacation night, enjoying myself at the hotel, vs a 2 hour earlier pass to my cruise room.

To each their own, but I've tried both. I can almost guarantee I am infinitely more relaxed at the local beach than many of the "I NEED TO BE FIRST" people. Not going back anytime soon.

I agree.  Its like the people who line up at southwest for their flights 20 minutes before any notification . or race to them luggage carousel.  I just stand out of the way haha

I think its been no smoking in casino unless actively playing since Oct.  Since the casino isnt open until in international waters there hasnt been smoking there during embarkation day.

Unless you are cruising from New Orleans.

Boarding earlier will always be seen as better by the vast majority of folks simply because it avoids complications. The later you wait the more time for a tanker truck to close the freeway leaving you stuck on an overpass for hours or the parking garages to all be full because of some event you never heard of or for someone to have a medical event in the terminal or for equipment to break or similar disruption that causes a massive backlog resulting in long, long lines to board. Once you are on board the only thing that can go wrong is the ship breaks. Once you are on board the work is over and the worries are gone. I guess some smokers can't go a few hours without a cigarette, but I think most are like me and are quite used to it.

Hehe.

But isn't that because they are not checking baggage to save money and thus need to use up the overhead bin, and under the seat?
