Ahhh, ok, got it.  Thx for sharing that post though.

I’m assuming Aruba is going to follow suit.  Hopefully corporate can get a solid answer from Aruba ASAP, then hopefully we can go somewhere else willing to accept the Odyssey, even if it means going back to Coco Cay!

Honestly, most likely we’ll probably have 7 sea days on this cruise….

LOL you could have crossed the Atlantic in 7 days.  Enjoy!  Please keep us posted.

On the Odyssey. It’s time to go home. We already had 2 days at sea, plus today, and 2 more home. No reason to pretend any longer, and no reason to keep us on a giant incubator. Cases are only going to increase, not decrease. Crew have been wonderful and doing the best they can. It’s the passengers refusing to comply with the mask mandates and thinking they are too special to follow the rules.

Question for all: What, if anything, changes for the next sailing? Still the same crew. Still the same risk for additional crew outbreaks.

What's the general mood like on the ship now that more are finding out? Are people stressed out? Concerned? Annoyed?

Are passengers not wearing their masks? What’s the elevator situation like?  Are people cramming in with people not in their party?

In the statement released by RCCL ~

During routine weekly testing of our fully vaccinated crew members, there were test results that came back positive for COVID-19," Royal Caribbean said in a statement.

I've underlined 'routine weekly' testing.

I wonder if, considering the upcoming cautioned exponential transmission of the newest variant, and the billions that the cruise lines have on the line, that they might want have routine daily testing of their fully vaccinated crew members (i.e., the 'at home' testing kits)?

Regarding cost, first they collectively are a buying conglomerate.  It should not be the  'retail' price we see in stores or online.  Second, the sunk cost of resumption and the potential 'pause cost' if these #'s GROW exponentially cruise after cruise would be massive.

If that many crew members tested positive...they will have to be quarantined.

Who will replace them?

Can the ship fully function without those crew members?

Genuinely wishing only the best for those sailing on the Odyssey.

Sorry to hear this and thank you for updating us.

Sounds like this started last week with the casino crew that tested positive first.    Tumble down effect.

at least people are realizing that majority of population that are vaccinated only experience minor symptoms.

I am actually not surprised at at all to hear that. I was on Allure 2 weeks ago and commented that if anyone is going to get sick on this ship it's going to be from the casino. Everyone was packed in like sardines in the Casino on top of each other in what's considered a fully vaccinated no mask required area. It was so crazy busy that sanitizing machines or any surfaces in the casino were just not possible.

How does a fully vaccinated crew with masks all the time get infected? Maybe it’s time for all crew to get the booster shot as I  have. Kind of negligent if they haven’t.
Is it my imagination or is the highest number of cases occurring on RC? On celebrity it seems cases are ones and twos with no port turn aways.

Think Celebrity is still 100% vaccinated and no kids.  Up until last week they did not require masks for guests.  Haven’t seen if they changed that policy yet.

Well, they do eat without it in restaurants, so it could spread.

Agree this may apply to the US but when you are talking about the Caribbean Islands who have limited medical resources even a small bump in hospitalizations could be troublesome.

I absolutely agree, and understand the islands turning ships away.  🙂  Their resources are very limited, in most cases.

My comment was more directed to the hysteria that we seem to have in the press these days about new variants, and how great it would be to have data that is useful.  So far, Omicron is very contagious, but is this a milder variant?  Just thinking out loud here, and wondering if the cases at sea are proving to be mild or asymptomatic for the most part.

We are still docked at Curacao. Five hours later. No idea what they want to do next. All the shops on board and the casino are closed because we are in Port.  holding pattern…

Hang in there...there are worse places you could be.  Let us know

They may be communicating with Aruba to see if they are going to be allowed to dock.  Regardless, seems like they would want to pull out of Curacao to open things up and make some money at the shops and casino.  Assume people are allowed out of their rooms in general?  Hope you can enjoy the rest of the cruise wherever it may go 🙂

Maybe they are waiting for word from HQ on where to head next.  One can only hope that these cases are minimal in severity and things go as best as possible.

Yes they are probably waiting for orders from HQ.  This can't be good publicity for RCI -- there's no Press Release on their part yet.
