Were you charged a room service fee for the hot breakfast?

I believe the specific suite they are in gets 2 free room service deliveries, then $9.95 each delivery thereafter.  I'm listening closely as we'll be in a similar suite in mid-June

To the OP: we plan to use room service a few times for "breakfast on the balcony". How was the process, how did you order, how long did delivery take and was the food remotely warm by the time you received it?  Thx...

I don't think so. I think the confusion is in NCL's wording of "two deliveries" or something similar. That is referring to the afternoon snack (of their choice) deliveries that Haven (and suites on every ship except Joy😕) receive on a daily basis.

AFAIK, from reading previous threads, the SC and SP category Concierge Suites on the Joy have 2 of the $10 Room Service charges waived. I guess you're saying that's incorrect information?

Good morning all, we decided to stay in our suite, ordered hot breakfast while sipping Expresso & watching the navigational channel. Live shipcam not working but that virtual balcony view ... oooh. Looks like another 24 hours from Windy's forecast.

They were talking on the weather report last night (either channel 2 or 7) that that storm could be sitting there for a little bit, even somehow maybe bringing rain to the NYC area this coming weekend.  Good luck!!!

If people have reported getting that recently then I stand corrected. I believe that their was discussion somewhere (here or one of the FB joy groups) that it was a misunderstanding of the wording in the way I described in my last post.

It's a shame what they have stripped from the two Suite categories they have. It would be nice if I was wrong. Hope so.

This morning's Room Services was delivered in about 30 to 40 minutes, arrived warm, not cold and not hot, typical like hotel & resort's room service. That's fine as we didn't feel like changing & taking a walk to the dining room. If this rough sea state continue thru tomorrow, complimentary light breakfast with the door hanger will do. A charge of $9.95 has been posted to our account as well as the 2nd suite for hot breakfast ordered. We still tipped for the deliveries, not the crew's fault. Suffice to say, not pleased with not getting it waived or 2 free delivered, as rumored - not going to blame anyone for misunderstanding, they did say when I placed the order.

Aside from the welcome letter from the GM and Concierge, Patrick - hasn't heard or seen him at all. Haven is packed full so pretty sure the teams are running around like rabbits.  We will re-evaluate post-cruise on our overall assessment of the values of these suites and not jump to early conclusions.

The beds are comfortable to sleep and we love the extra space & 2nd bathroom. With the rough seas and choppy ride, it's squeaky and we hear the metal joints flexing overhead & in the walls, while trying to sleep with the rocking motion, so not what we planned for the week. That's giving me a headache while the ladies are definitely having it worse, maybe tonight will be better if they can make it down to the casino 😁 LOL.

The joke is that there's a voicemail from the CD to welcome all back & especially Latitudes members to check & take advantage of all the benefits. If officers do show up for tomorrow's Meet & Greet, who will ask what, or at the afternoon Latitudes event. Issues with these suites are with Miami HQ but they should definitely know that we on CC aren't fools & pass it up the chains of command & not get a free pass.

I wasn't planning to turn this Semi-Live pictorial thread into something else & spin it off. We got a ton of non-refundable OBC to burn, $10 or $20 itself is not a problem ...  Mrs M will just spend less in duty-free instead.

just looked at the web cam on joy. not sure if it is accurate. how is the ride. when we booked this i was wondering about open sea days. On one cruise the it was very rough the captain announced that he was making a course to "fall into the shadow of Norway" . He got to were he wanted to go and the sailing was WAY smoother. But out there there is not shadow to fall into. hope it is not too bad. do most passengers pack motion sickness meds for cruise? we never have.  do they work? for some reason i think they told use to eat apples. ( does that make sense). thanks for posting will enjoy following your adventure.

@charlie murphy - our live shipcam has been offline since boarding in NYC, strangely enough, for a connection error. Maybe too scary for some of us to watch live.

Seas remain rough & very choppy, it's the sideway coupled with 21 ft. wave height that's making it tough for quite a few.  Crew's green apple in the buffet might be in hot demand, plain white toast was the other we learn some 20 years ago.  Captain did said from his daily bridge briefing that conditions should improve later today and evening. Looking at maritime weather charts & forecasts, don't see how we can avoid, sail around or blast thru an opening at high speed into a safer bubble - and we've been in 2 or 3 NorEasters at sea.

Definitely something strange going on. There was a thread a month ago on here titled "Best Suite Class Perks" and on post #19 some one posted an NCL document they had received by Email from the Concierge just a few weeks previously, outlining all perqs for all staterooms on the Joy.   It clearly states, for SP and SC categories "F&B Amenity (2X a week, provided by Room Service".  Seems pretty clear. It's probable that all Room Service orders are automatically charged by the "system" and a follow-up with Guest Services or the Concierge is needed to get them credited back?

this is what I was referring to. The F&B amenity is like a plate of cheese (or whatever NCL wants to give you) regardless who delivers it. So two times during the sailing they should get some afternoon delivery of a random item that will be because of the Suite. Its the same idea as the snack item they give higher latitudes members. I think the confusion hasn't been NCL, but our interpretation their literature. However, if someone makes a stink over it based on that vagueness, then I do suppose they will get the charge reversed. But is it worth that hassle?

I stayed in the SB inside family suite on the Joy two weeks ago, the 4/26 5 day to Bermuda.  On the matter of what exactly is the room service perk, if any, I have to agree with "cruiseinfoseeker".

While I didn't order room service to test whether we'd get 2 service charges waived, I did notice that on at more than one occasion, someone was wheeling down a cart full of little trays of goodies they were putting in every room.  I'm assuming THAT was the perk referenced in their literature.

I didn't automatically deduce that as it gets confusing sometimes to differentiate the snacks you get from Casinos At Sea and other senders from what is a standard room perk.

Ding Ding Ding, it's not worth my time to call or write the concierge, F&B or GM on something minor like this, over the squeaks from the metals or bathtub doors slamming all night while we rock & roll in rough seas trying to sleep or just enjoy the ship. Crews are wonderful, our steward is very helpful and what's important - and we are also stockholders ... IMHO, this is a bad business practice to market a suite with really nothing above & beyond the perks that our Latitudes & Sapphire tiers "entitle" us to.  It's one of the reasons that we did not go for a Club Balcony Suite last month on the Getaway, the upgrade price was cheap. We could've just book 2 balconies for 3 in each and not spent the extra money, if not for wanting to have the extra living room space & as a trial.

BTW, we rescheduled our Cagney's dinner tonight (asked the pre-cruise concierge desk to book 6:30 pm but found out myself late last night, confirmed for 8:30 pm).  Given our rough sea conditions are still, I bet we can do a priority wait-list tonight myself for 6:30 pm as Sapphire, to get seated for 6 or 6:30 pm, without assistance, from no-shows & cancellations. 😂😂😂 LOL.

I suspect that the mysterious $200/pp OBC we received for this cabin is probably in response to the cancellation of many of these perqs specific to the Joy, such as the lost breakfast and lunch in specialty dining, free room service, etc. It all works out in the end.

@lx200gps - interesting, we should find out. The welcome letter certainly didn't mention any at all.

Waves are now higher at 26 ft. instead of 21 ft. but sideway twisting motions not as bad now.

Got a quick bite at The Local.

Hi, AR and do say hello to RJ for Susan & me.  Got quite a few CC friends quietly following us, some booked on the Joy ... Hi, Sharon "The P" and  Bonnie "MsTabby"  & probably Mary & Alex.

Magician in the Joy Theater tonight, Flashdance & Footloose "should" be too, this week.  Meanwhile, it's Washy Washy especially in the buffet.  Mask use among some of the passengers seemed to be up slightly; BUT, not required or ...

What are these funky little bonus tags you got? I've never seen those before.

Those, are "collector's items" of ours - received them in the mail in the Dawn days from NCL, along with printed boarding passes .  It's a cool conversational piece at M&G, old-timers probably have them too - maybe tossed them away & never kept them.  Pretty sturdy after all these (18+) years.

BTW, got my Lenovo Chromebook connected to ship's satellite WiFi, live now - just checked our Virtual Balcony view, seas state easing a little, not as rough & waves height down a bit.  Blue skies ahead after the last 24 hours - that's good for all on this Bermuda ride.

Hi, Henry. I'm following you as I keep throwing stuff in my luggage to board this Sunday. I'm hoping as few cruisers as possible are being effected by the rockin' and rollin' you're going through. Mama mia! I think next week is not going to be the best weather for our cruise, either. I'be been checking Bermuda's forecast.

They're offering some good films in case cruisers are deciding to stay in their cabins.

The info you've posted has already been a big help and you've just started! I'm figuring on OBC instead of Lat. perks. I'll ask for a different pin so I can start a collection, LOL.

Covid numbers in Manhattan are rising daily and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a negative antigen test this Friday. Very tired of "testing stress".........Sharon

Hi, Henry. So kind and helpful to do such a thorough Live thread. Thank you,

I have a question about your visit to the Next Cruise desk for your "special gift" which was the OBC. Did they happen to provide you with a letter stating something along the lines of "more flexibility" with the latitudes dinners [expanded location choices AND that its usage is the same as the dining package (not $35 main limit any more)

Hoping for a very calm sea evening for you. Enjoy!

Now, Ship Announcement is on TV Ch.12 instead of shipcam (live)  Hmmm 🤔

Tonight, we adjust the clock 1 hour ahead to match Bermuda time.

Tonight should be good for gentle 😴 sleeping. Casino was reported to be rather empty of "donors" 😁

@cruiseinfoseeker - nope, just said here's your stateroom's gift of $50 OBC.  Maybe, they will resume Dine with Officers or BTS tours soon.
