Sopranos….lots of stars over the course of its run. All were good. The director decided to get all artsy-fartsy with the ending and resolved none of it. So, bad on him. That does not detract from the entirety of the series, which dealt with mental health, parent hood, parental influence, Brother/Sister dynamics, etc. A very popular series here, the final scene was filmed a mile from me.

We've never gone on their ocean cruises but have one booked for 2024. We're doing it for the itinerary, which does the Norwegian fjords and goes up above the Arctic Circle. NCL used to do this itinerary. It was only when we decided we wanted to do it that they stopped. 😜 I guess we'll find out if it's too hoity toity for us. The two river ones have not been. Although on our last one, Nov 2021, there was one particular guest that if the rest of us could have gotten away with throwing overboard we probably would have. She couldn't have a single conversation without somehow, someway bringing up that she was an engineer that graduated MIT. She even tried telling the ship's engineer he was doing things wrong. Oh my lord, talk about narcissist, sounds like that guy from the movie Titanic that ended up getting on a lifeboat first...LOL. I have a friend who was on a viking cruise and he loved it.

Breakfast we're usually lazy and order the night before to be brought to our room. I've heard that you can eat food from anywhere in the ship in the Haven restaurant with even notice if you wan different food but Haven level service. We haven't bothered to try. As Geezer mentioned above, ask nicely and your butler can bring you a copy of the MDR menu for that day. Or ask at the concierge desk - they usually have a copy there too. I do like the idea of asking the butler to secure us a copy of the MDR menu; or get it from the concierge if that's not something butler is able to assist with. I read above that you can get other specialty restaurant food in the Haven restaurant as you said - (with notice) - however, we already have specialty nights that we paid for and I don't want to pay for more. I may be in the Haven, but I ain't rich! 🤑

I think it's the same as people collecting stuff. There's nothing there, it's just something to do. Lots of people have fairly empty lives, and they like to create some interesting things to amuse themselves. I'd suggest just throwing the rocks that offend you into the ocean, but if they have paint on them, that's probably a bad idea. About the only thing you can do is ignore it, as complawyer advises. I did not see where anyone brought this up(maybe I missed it) so I will. Several of us did bring that up, but just like you’ve now seen, people just pick random facts and figures from your post to fit their own (inaccurate) narrative. I gave up days ago because I finally realized that people do not want to understand how it actually works. People truly want to believe that anybody getting comp cruises MUST be losing tons of money and are being taken for a ride by the casinos and NCL. And they want to believe that so that they don’t feel bad that they aren’t getting free cruise offers. As you (and several of us) have pointed out, you don’t even need a super huge bankroll to get cruise offers. And you definitely don’t need to lose. We tried to help them, but let them believe what they want to believe. In the meantime, I redeemed a 10-day offer in a aft suite on the Gem last week, and yesterday I booked another Haven comp out of NYC in December. See you in the high seas casinos and as the CAS reps say “have a lucky day!” 😊🍀

Aw, come on ... you know that white straight males are the cause of every problem in the world, don't you? A Martian spending a week in today's America perusing the media would certainly think that. But some of us know that it's just a passing fad and soon the world will find some other group to make fun of.😁 Edited August 21, 2022 by jsn55 emoji 2

complawyer Posted August 21, 2022 #613 Share Posted August 21, 2022 on our very 1st cruise, the muster drill went as expected. women, children, elderly and disabled go 1st when asked if there were any questions i raised my hand and politely asked "where's the bar" needless to say the guy leading the muster wasn't pleased and admonished me that this was a serious issue, and my question was totally inappropriate. i told him to look around at the other passengers . i was a 34 year old white male. i told him, based on the directions for getting off the ship in the event of an emergency, it looks like i'll never make it off, so i might as well drink to the end. at that point he understood 1

lvic Posted August 21, 2022 #615 Share Posted August 21, 2022 (edited) Things we love to do on cruises that other people don't? Take naps. I know a lot of people want to be all "go, go, go!" on their cruise, and not rest for a minute, but for the two of us, that's what our regular lives are like. And seriously, on sea days, being awake at 2-5pm is overrrated. The pool is a zoo, the sun is brutal, there's little else to do other than go to sales pitch presentations or be one of those couples that sits around being bored. Taking a siesta in one of the non-heated loungers in the thermal spa, or a shady spot of the pool deck, or even your own cabin is a great way to recharge, especially if you're normally an early riser but want to stay up late. YES! We looooove our cruise naps. We work a lot in our normal day-to-day that a couple-few hour nap on a cruise is niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice. We may be getting old (early 50s), but to each their own. 1

So if you love the service, quietness, or attention of the Haven wait staff... you can order your Cagneys meal to be delivered and served up in the Haven restaurant. Again, haven't tried it ourselves as we like to eat at different places, but I've heard it's possible to do.
danny6514 Posted August 22, 2022 #621 Share Posted August 22, 2022 (edited) That NCL is quite a huge gap away from being a premium cruise line. Don't get me wrong, I love NCL and cruise with them, but things like dining, entertainment, I find pales in comparison to even RCL, whose not even trying to be premium. RCL's specialty dining gives me the wow factor, from the concepts to the presentation. The shows are over the top like the water show and the ice skating shows. Both of which I feel NCL lacks. That being said, I cruise with NCL for the thermal suite and the overall feeling of not being bounded by a schedule, and absolutely love them for that. I've always felt that RCL is more about that "ooh" and "ahh" factor. That's not something I enjoy. I know there are plenty millions of people out there that do, and that's great - for them. If I hear something is "over the top," then I'm more likely to stay away. I appreciate more subdued experiences, which is probably why I enjoy NCL more than you do. I will agree - the thermal suite is freaking amazing! I've never really had time in my life where I could just lay out and relax. The thermal suite lets me do that. So, thank you! 8 hours ago, ChiefMateJRK said: Some just want their food to taste good. I just want some great tasting food! I don't care about the presentation or concept. hernando52 Posted August 22, 2022 #625 Share Posted August 22, 2022 We're mainly NCL small ship people because we don't utilize any of the bells and whistles on the large ships (go carts, golf, wave riders, rock walls, etc.)...but there are 2 places where RCCL beats NCL for us. The Central Park concept on Oasis of the Seas was just fabulous for us. We could just go sit with a glass of wine and barely see a soul. The second is pizza....NCL has gotten a little better over the years, but by and large, their pizza is just terrible!
