basicprincess24 Posted August 11, 2022 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2022 Wondering what kinds of straws are currently available onboard? It's been 3 years since our last Carnival cruise, and at that time both paper and sugar straws were offered, with the sugar straws primarily for frozen drinks. Is this still the case? Not a big deal by any means, but I remember really disliking the sugar straws in particular since they got sticky over time.
tallnthensome Posted August 11, 2022 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2022 On right now ... sugar straws or none. I brought my own plastic.
basicprincess24 Posted August 11, 2022 Author #3 Share Posted August 11, 2022 Oh I'm glad I asked! 😂 Those sugar straws were so bad. I guess I'll see about bringing some on board.
dmet0225 Posted August 11, 2022 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2022 Alchemy doesn't give out any straws. At least they didn't on the Vista last week.
bgrmini Posted August 11, 2022 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2022 The straws suck.
nybumpkin Posted August 11, 2022 #6 Share Posted August 11, 2022 Just off Magic. All I saw was sugar straws, which didn't match what I was drinking. They did sell the stainless steel straws at the bars.
yogibear Posted August 11, 2022 #7 Share Posted August 11, 2022 I'm bringing my stainless straws on the Magic in 11 days!! Karen
ShakyBeef Posted August 11, 2022 #8 Share Posted August 11, 2022 I bring my own now: Not all 2000. Just about 30-50 per cruise, in a gallon-sized Ziplock bag. Just some of my DIY to make our cruise experience closer to what it used to be. 2
Wennfred Posted August 11, 2022 #9 Share Posted August 11, 2022 Haven’t seen straws on Spirit yet but Panorama had those sugar noodle straws and they also sold the stainless steel ones, I think they weee $5.

jerseygirlinAZ Posted August 12, 2022 #11 Share Posted August 12, 2022 We took our own reusable ones on our three cruises this year, but the bars also have metal ones with the plastic tips for sale.
teknoge3k Posted August 12, 2022 #12 Share Posted August 12, 2022 Like most other people, we take our own plastic straws.
wemjam Posted August 12, 2022 #13 Share Posted August 12, 2022 I have a collapsible metal straw with a nice little rubber tip on it that has its own little plastic tube carrying case. LOVE it... overall it is like 4" long and fits right in my pocket. Just slightly longer (but a bit narrower) than carrying around a lipstick in my pocket. Bought 2 and take them every cruise now. ManyMore Posted August 12, 2022 #14 Share Posted August 12, 2022 I hate those straws too! Nasty! Last time I brought a small box of plastic straws with me. I'd rather some nice reusable ones but I don't want to carry them around all day.
ThaNectar Posted August 12, 2022 #15 Share Posted August 12, 2022 The whole "straw" policy is a charade. I make my living on the water and it's all nonsense. The Turtles getting straws up their nose are very isolated incidents. It's like getting struck by lightning... very slim chance and rarely happens. Just like beached whales or sharks beaching themselves.. very rare.. All these straw polices do is make someone "feel better".. it has absolutley no effects on the turtles or any other sea animal, fish

They're individually wrapped. Also I like them long for the taller frozen drink glasses. I just keep the gallon-sized Ziplock of them in the cabin and each day pop a few into my wristlet / small cruise purse for walking around the ship ordering drinks.
