The Real Loveboat

We turned it on last night and to my surprise, it's a contest/reality show, not a sitcom.  We didn't care for it at all.  However, what I did notice was the, so called, Cruise Director.  It was Matt.  Matt was probably one of the best Cruise Directors in Carnival.  We had lunch with him one day, several years ago (No, I'm not star struck).  Nice guy.  I'm happy for his success.  But, in my opinion, this show won't get a second season.  It's just a variant of other sex starved, fake sensitive guys, reality dating shows, Love Island, et al.

Yes it is. And by the way the ratings for the premiere episode were abysmal; only 2.4 million people watched it. The show is not going to last very long in its timeslot.

I only watched it because it was between Survivor and The Amazing Race.  Silly show.

It's a really, really lame reality show. It's so bad I'd rather watch RCI's love and marriage show. If Princess thinks this is good publicity targeting the younger generation touting "love" on the high seas, they are high on something -- the average cruiser's age on Princess has to be around 85.

if the average age was 85 then Holland America must be above 100 😁😁

First, I knew it was a reality show. It's been advertised that way for months.  Second, we thought it was fun.  Third, it's not supposed to be the same as the original sitcom at all.  Have some imagination people.  It is it's own show and the concept was never hidden from anyone.  Just look at it for what it is, a reality show with a cruise as the backdrop.  I also love Jerry O'Connell and Rebecca Romijn.  They're a breath of fresh air in Hollywood where marriages last ten minutes.  They've been together 18 years and married 15.

Which is better?

Harmony of The Seas "Love at Sea" vs Regal Princess "The Real Love Boat"?

Love that movie but I also really respect the Pena-Vega's as a family.

That show is quite the slap in the face to the classic TV show.

I can't help but agree Totally.

As someone that watches most of my TV shows via DVR and fast forwards through commercials, i only quickly go back to catch when it shows and relied mostly on the name to spur interest, and find the premiere date.

Like most who commented here I was sorely disappointed to find another Very Bad example of Reality TV.  Glad to see it had dismal ratings.

Now a good remake of the original sitcom I would have been up for, as it is that recording got less than 10 minutes before we hit "Series Delete"

But, I didn't know that.  I saw it on the "Guide", actually about 5 minutes into it, and turned it in.  My initial thought was, it was going to be a re-make of the original, a sitcom.  I'm not a big ABC. CBS, NBC, FOX broadcast TV watcher.

That mostly describes me!
