Zaandam will be our first HAL ship of the season.  She is heading out on the 71-day Grand Africa.

Cruise itinerary map for Holland America Line 71 Night Grand Africa Voyage (100541)

She will be at Pier 26 (port to) from 6:30am to 5pm.  The port schedule still has her down as leaving at 5pm but we all know "Grand" Voyages do not often get off on time.

She is the only cruise ship in port.

The PTZtv webcam can be found at https://www.portevergladeswebcam.com/.  I have requested a wave provided we get out close to on time (they don't sound like they will look for me/us if it is dark).  I will be standing on the Promenade deck under the last lifeboat.  I will have the HAL flag and not sure if anybody from the roll call will be joining me.

Next up:  Nieuw Statendam on Saturday, 22 October.

I was able to board early - the times they assigned us meant nothing, just like pre-pandemic.  In fact, they didn’t even look at the boarding pass.  Still a lot of stuff to  load so I would be surprised to sail at 5.

Glad you made it on safely!  And hopefully, even if it is dark, we will be able to see you.

Smooth sailings!!

I just signed our of work and checked the schedule.  If the new time holds I can finish dinner and watch it on my laptop with Bose speakers if their are toots to be heard. 🙂

Yes, the Captain just announced 6pm departure.  Still a ton of stuff on the dock.

That's pretty typical prior to a long voyage.  When I sailed on a world cruise, our 5:00 P. M. sailing time kept slipping and slipping.  We started to pull away from Pier 26 as I was going to Second Seating Dinner.

There had better be toots!  I will be waving from the Promenade Deck.
