Anyone with knowledge of the PH suites on deck 8 please advise if there are any suites  to avoid or should we avoid deck 8 altogether?...We normally avoid been in a suite under the Pool deck after a Transoceanic on Silver Whisper back a good few years ago, when we were in 729 right under the Pool deck and suffered through the whole crossing from Barbados to Barcelona.

Any advise would be much appreciated as this is our first cruise on Oceania the route Barbados to Miami in December 2022

We were in 8038 on the Sirena for 28 days this May/June. This is a very good location but we heard no noises at all.
remember there aren’t a lot of rowdy Oceania cruisers! It’s not one of the bigger party board.
on their R-Class ships the PH suites are very nice. All recently updated with plenty of outlets and USB ports, albeit of the USB-A variety.

Port side  should not be  as bad as the  cabins under Waves

They do start rolling carts in early in the mornings

Under the computer & card room would also be good if you do not mind being forward

What was it about the Silversea cruise that had you suffering so much? I can't imagine there being much noise in the evening or middle of the night. Are you day sleepers?

As has been reported here various times, you want to avoid the rooms under Waves Grill and the first section of the Terrace on the port side.

We were in PH3 8065 which is under the Terrace Cafe and it was noisy at times -  we heard the crew moving tables/chairs in the early morning or, after closing. We now book Concierge when sailing on the R ships so that we are on deck 7 without the bother of noise from the deck above.

I said that wrong, it should be the Terrace on the starboard side.

Avoid those PH suites on the starboard side under the Terrace and Waves. The furthest back first two PH aren’t so bad, avoid the others. Carts rolling in the middle of the night and then the early risers dragging chairs in Waves before even 06:00 is dreadful.

If you can manage being far forward (and we did it on a TA and it was fine) then 8000 was prefect, under the card room, quiet as anything, near the lefts and officers quarters, it was quiet and accessible.

Even numbered to around 8010 would also be fine imo.

We’ve booked 8000 again for our next trip on Sirena.

Many Thanks to everyone who answered our noise question regarding deck 8 under the Pool deck. We now know which suites to avoid.

The reason Orv that we had issues with Silver Suite 729 on the Whisper was the staff moving chairs and cleaning the decks at 5 am or earlier in the mornings and sometimes late at nights.

We've spent time this year in 8042 and 8046 both of which are under the restroom / patio areas.  Never heard anything from above.  The furniture in the patio is more or less fixed, very heavy metal stuff.  It could be moved, but probably would take 2 or 3 crew members to do so.  On the other hand, the chairs in Waves are dragged around both for set up / clean up and by guests getting themselves seated.  To be avoided.

Been on deck 8.  Not a problem. It is quiet.  Oceania doesn’t have late night deck parties like mass market ships.

Any particular cabins on Deck 8 you’ve “ been “?? Not one poster commented on late night parties! Not one! Plenty of comments about rolling carts in the Terrace and dragging of chairs in the wee Hours of night.

Depending upon the specific cabins one stays in, the level of noise from above varies significantly.

  • 1 year later...

We were on deck 8, room 8053. The noise at night after 10pm is awful. At times it is startling. We complained on the midship comment card; a staff member who read the review cornered us in the Terrace Cafe to say he told the kitchen staff to be quieter. It was quite embarrassing. And after that encounter the noise at night only got worse.

We’ve stayed in 8049, 8044 and 8042 on various R ships and have never been disturbed from above. 8049 seems to be just under the ‘wall’ where the Terrace and Waves meet but my guess is that anything further aft could be noisy. As a matter of interest 8044 and 42 are both very close to lifts/stairwell and we have never been disturbed by them either.

Was there any noise from the thrusters or anchors during docking or casting off? We had issues with that in 7130 on Riviera so just wondering.

We were in 8044 on Regatta and liked it so much we stayed there again on Sirena. We even booked the location on Azamara Quest for next year (same R ship).

We're booked on Nautica in 8052 for our June cruise, and I suspect we're going to be bothered by noise. We often don't hit the sheets until midnight, but I do object to 6am noise. I normally avoid being under buffets, bars, casinos, and the pool deck, but IIRC, all the Penthouses on R class ships, are on this deck. I guess we're going to find out if this was a bad decision.

Please explain, why is the noise under the terrace cafe worse on the starboard side, compared to port?

Waves is also on the  starboard side of the ship next to the Terrace so much more movement!

Pretty much this, and the door connecting Waves Grill & The Terrace

I also believe that the primary door to the kitchen is located on that side if I’m not mistaken and therefore the primary path for bringing carts in and out when getting the buffet ready and during take down.
