cruisinmeme Posted January 7, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 7, 2023 Ok watched the safety video when I did my check in (at 21 days) then yesterday I got an email from NCL to watch the video then again today I got the same email. We leave Sunday (it is now Friday night) so seems they would have a way of knowing it has been watched.
Joken35 Posted January 7, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 7, 2023 So annoying. They had time to send this out 3x this week but they couldn’t send us the itinerary change.?!

kitkat343 Posted January 7, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 7, 2023 I checked in my whole family so I had to run the video 5 times just for checkin. Did ncl expect my 4 year old kid to watch the safety video herself?
Rare mking8288 Posted January 7, 2023 #5 Share Posted January 7, 2023 From the email, click the link and let the safety video on Youtube run from start to finish ... since you've watched it already before, do something else - have a sip of water/juice/drink, take a restroom break, play with the pet, etc. - then 2 or 3 minutes later when it's done/stopped (ours 1 min 36 sec long) ... close YT. Done, until next time (yeah, NCL tracking you w "cookies" ... don't ignore it.) You should be fine until embarkation onboard - probably after you checked in to the muster station & get your card(s) swiped - found the video again being shown on the interactive stateroom TV again, each time you power on the TV, until you watch its entire length once. Then, you are left alone & can do whatever with that remote control - like watch the few TV info-tainment channels, check your onboard charges, see the CruiseNext & ShorEx promo videos, etc. Oh, there is a long version of the emergency, safety & muster station video, etc. on its own dedicated channel. It's mandatory by federal laws and governed by international regulations - like those pre-flight, once the aircraft begin its push back from the gate, that FA come on with the inflatable vest, emergency exits, seat buckles and drop-down O2 mask, etc.
Davechipp74 Posted January 7, 2023 #6 Share Posted January 7, 2023 (edited) My 1st cruise was on Holland America the MS Rotterdam in 2004 I had to wear my life jacket to my muster station of all places which was the casino. Just watch the video. Edited January 7, 2023 by Davechipp74
Travelling2Some Posted January 7, 2023 #7 Share Posted January 7, 2023 They must have sent that video to me about 8 times for our last cruise. I was beginning to think they lacked confidence that the darn ship was seaworthy, lol. (It was the Sun right after the iceberg encounter!)
wcook Posted January 7, 2023 #8 Share Posted January 7, 2023 Zero. They force the video to be played. They don’t force you to watch it. Some of the other cruise lines put a code or something at the end of the video which you have to enter/call to prove you watched it. Not NCL. For the curious, here’s the gist of the video: In an emergency, go to your muster station and do what they tell you. 1

But I'd rather sit through it 20 times versus doing an in person muster. 4
KarlChilders Posted January 7, 2023 #10 Share Posted January 7, 2023 (edited) At least once more! You will have to play it in your cabin before the tv will work. Edited January 7, 2023 by KarlChilders

But, you will have to watch the [very] long version on your stateroom TV to unlock the TV,,,, so at least one more time.

That seems like over kill. Edited January 7, 2023 by uneamie

You don't have to WATCH any of them. Let the video start and go do something productive for the next minute and a half.
DensolandMouthy Posted January 7, 2023 #14 Share Posted January 7, 2023 On the Sun last month it was back to an in person muster at 5pm ish loved just getting on board the ship and going straight to the muster station after watching the video at home
kaprin02 Posted January 7, 2023 #15 Share Posted January 7, 2023 I watch the video during online check-in only. Any reminders by email I ignore, because I've already watched the video. Never been an issue.
Rare Oceansaway17 Posted January 7, 2023 #16 Share Posted January 7, 2023 On all of my cruises last year including Breakaway, I never watched the video I just showed up at the muster and after a quick chat, got scanned and off and running yes they all bother us with those emails

We were on the Sun too. Sent me the video about 8 times and then had a regular muster drill when we boarded. Kind of weird.
