The best ship names are all the old ones.

At least the  "Of The Seas" names.

Sovereign, Majesty, Monarch, Legend.

The newer names get worse at each new ship.

HA has been reusing old ship names.

Carnival started doing it also,

I agree with you .. I think Quantum and Icon are 2 of the most ridiculous ones.

Skeet shooting on a cruise sounds very dangerous for a guy like me ...

... I wear shorts in the MDR and on formal night ...

... I smoke on the balcony ...

... I wave my sea pass card around and yell DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM ...

... I cancel my auto tips ...

... and I press all the elevator buttons for every floor .

Time makes many things better...but the Sovereign was a great first cruise memory.  Welcome aboard Champagne severed by a Staff member dressed in their Whites while wearing gloves..nice start to a special week

Sovereign was my very first cruise and I remember fondly the welcome aboard champagne.  Was also my first time staying in a Royal Suite.

We were on the Sovereign for its first passenger voyage in the USA. After having been on the Songs  and the Nordic Prince, we were amazed by the Sovereign. I still think those older ships were so much classier, with much better food, and much better service. I do not like the " amusement parks at sea" ships or the "city at sea" ships  at all.

Our first cruise in the 80's was on Sovereign, she was brand new and the largest ship on the ocean! Great time but decided cruising wasn't for us. We were scuba divers at the time so between that gear and formal clothes ( a must back then) it was not for us. Fast forward about 20 yrs, went to Alaska on a cruise, loved it. Since then it's only cruising for us! Never a problem with any ship, all different which we we like. Finally doing an Oasis class in May, so can't wait. We have been leaving from NJ for many yrs now, living in Ct, very convenient and no flying!

The Sovereign Class, the last of traditional RCI cruise ships before they became amusement parks @ sea.

I am all for reusing ship names as other cruise lines do .

I would take it up through the Vision and Radiance classes, they are more "traditional" cruise ships than they are gimmicky abominations like most everything since.
