Help me spend my OBC

On our last Princess cruise we noticed several shops in the port area with the Princess logo on them.

We did not go in BUT...

I hope this is so.

We have a cruise next month with OBC. Being that we have the Princess Plus package, basically everything onboard is already covered.

I do NOT need any overpriced things from their shops so hoping to be able to buy somethings in the ports.

So that you can buy overpriced items in the cruise ports?

Two thoughts.

If you actually end up with any OBC at the end, go to the front desk and ask it to applied as additional crew gratuities. Have not tried it myself with Princess, but most lines let you do that.

Second, re tours I do recommend one of the all day Nicaragua tours that  visits the volcano and Granada. A long day, but if you have any interest in volcanos, natural history, or like seeing historic towns, I receommend it.

Here are some ideas:
1) order flowers for your cabin

2) specialty dinners

3) camera, go pro, binoculars, Good Spirts barware, Medallion holders from the photo gallery

4) Casino play. Load whatever amount of OBC you want onto your medallion for casino play ( you can use it at the tables and slots) throughout your cruise and then remember to cash out on the day before the cruise ends.

5) upgrade to Premier

6) order lobster or steak in the main dining room for an up charge

7) stock up on holiday gifts or treats for yourself ( perfume, coach purses, watches, tanzanite earrings)

8) purchase alcohol - this will be held until the end of your cruise

9) spa treatments / enclave/ thermal suite

10) Sanctuary

11) bingo

12) excursions

I’m thinking about a couple of nice whiskies from the gift shop; would they be held and delivered upon disembarking?

I'll try and check on the Princess whisky available (on Crown in 3 weeks). I assume by your use of Whisky you are referring to proper Whisky and not that Irish or American imitation 🤪.  On RCI and Celebrity I have found most of the major distilleries retail travel offerings, including Macallan, Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, Balvenie, and Glenmorangie. I ignore that Johnny brand, even if the bottle is blue. I had extra OBC on my last Celebrity cruise (canceled ports do to hurricane Ian, $800 OBC was part of promotion). Bought a Balvenie 16 (around $100 I think ) and a Glenmorangie 19 (think around $140). I am really enjoying the Balvenie 16, personally think it is a pretty good step up from their Caribbean cask 14. Haven't tried the Glenmorangie yet. From previous cruises, I've tried some of the Glenfiddich series, which were very decent for the price point ($50 and $60 I think at the time). I have not tried their new series, but the 18 looks interesting. I really enjoy their Project XX series also.

From what I understand Princess will hold purchases til the last night, same as most other lines. I usually just purchase last day and take them back to the cabin.

If you consider these the cheap stuff I can't help you 😜.

Yes you can do this. Just play a little between buying in and cash out. Nothing sketchy about it. You may even win!

Can you only cash out once at the end of the cruise or can you cash out each day at the end of playing, and reload if playing again?

Take my wife with you on the cruise 😁

My wife know how to get rid of that nasty onboard credit. She was great at it. It would be gone as I was filling out the health forms at the pier. 😳😁

You can cash out whenever you want. As long as the casino is open.

Not that I know for sure, since we only cash out at the end of that particular trip, but I've read posts that said you can only cash out once.

I traditionally cash out each evening unless I have a very small amount in my bank.

That’s what I’m afraid of. I don’t need Chivas or Cutty Sark. I was hoping they had a secret stash of Oban in the back somewhere.

I considered cancelling the Plus, but wasn’t sure whether the price I paid would be refunded to my cc or just more OBC. It certainly would eat up the entire $1k, and that’s assuming the price doesn’t increase in the next year.

Can I buy Sanctuary just for Transit Day? 🤨

A spa treatment sounds like a good way to waste some money - can I pay for tips there with the OBC?

They should have JW Blue, my personal fav. It is $200+ a bottle

I don't  remember from our 1 previous Princess  Alaska cruisetour, but on our many Royal Caribbean Cruises they allowed any balance of our OBC to go towards gratuities. What about Princess? Their website doesn't state it however.

But you still love her for it anyway.  Good man, T.

You can cash out using chips from table games as you wish. No idea about how that works with slots.
