Trash.

I was on this cruise 6/27/23 and I was also on the Magic 6/26/22  cruise that I believe was the catalyst for the new rules letter issued by CCL earlier this year so I am thinking I will not be booking any future cruises out of NY for the latter part of June!  I really don't want to be part of this annual event!!

...Now someone intentionally taking your bag is a completely different ball of wax.

And nobody who just spent 7 days consuming 15 drinks/day, punching people over a pool chair, running on 36 hours w/o sleep & no memory of said fighting would ever intentionally take the wrong bag...ugh.

There's a special helping of karma for "that" person.

I watched the video of the fight in the night club.  The person's phone said it was 5 something a.m. as did the article I read (for whatever that is worth) that said the ship had to be escorted by the Coast Guard back in to port.  I didn't even know the night club was open at 5 a.m.!!!  And there were a bunch of people there! A bunch of adults!!!

What grown adult is at a night club at that time? I can't even make the 10:30 comedy club.

Yep and then I read I'm on a journey cruise, no priority debark. Its every man for himself because it's a expensive journey cruise. Carnival isnt thinking correctly about this. Even if there are more diamonds .. give them priority and then platinum .. why penalize journey cruises?

Stupid. Carnival gives so few perks, I want priority debark.

I can't say for certain, but I am thinking the Journeys cruises aren't where the fights are happening...

Maybe that's part of the experience.   Everyone will be hot, sweaty and smelly.  Just like being in Italy 🇮🇹

Include smoking in that as well.

Oh, wait, I read the ship does smell like smoke as well. Guess they got the whole thing down.

I think that 5 am nightclub fight was the one that involved a threesome that went bad

Your probably right because if by 5am it hasn't gotten good yet it's probably going to go bad! Anyone for breakfast? 😉

I just dont understand why they do not have to staff to show people to wait in other areas away from deck 3   if its not your time-- send them to another deck.      I do not know why simple rules and requests are not enforced    at all

I have seen staff try to direct people away from areas they shouldn’t be in only to be ignored or argued with. Staff has enough to do to get the ship turned over and prepared for the next group of passengers. That energy will be better used doing that vs telling people to follow the rules when they clearly have to interest in following the rules.

LOL....time for Carnival to put out another stern warning letter.🤣

I knew they weren’t going to carry through. Maybe they ban them but security needs to respond faster and they need way bigger dudes. I’m sorry but a 5’3 girl is not going to be effective. Big buff scary dudes.

You have really bad luck.  I’m so sorry you had two cruises affected by this nonsense.

I love all the theories on what causes these fights. It is the NYC port, it is the 4-day cruises, it is spring break. While some of these maybe factors, the videos do not lie. For obvious reasons, I will dance around what I am actually saying, but almost all of the video evidence falls into two broad groups of passengers. Guess what, both of these groups are present on all lengths of sailings, at all times of the year, and at all ports. The more I think of it, one group isn't all that common in NYC, but then again NYC is probably the easiest place to travel to.

As for the action or inaction of security, most corporations want security theater, not security. They are probably under so many restrictions on when they can escalate an action and if they do and one of the fine upstanding citizens from the night club complains, the security officer will be fired for doing their job. Trust me, most passengers don't want real security either, look at all the complaints on the recent addition of a K9 unit.

No. We go and get the tags with the last group numbers and maybe have one or 2 carry ons to take off with us for our last minute items and toiletries. We have never had a luggage issue at all.

What problems are you concerned about? Theft? Port personnel thinking the bags were unclaimed and left behind?

We did this too on our Panorama cruise. Feels good not to rush on your last morning on the ship. We easily found our luggage also.

Knock on wood, but we've never witnessed a fight or overly drunk people on any cruise we have taken. We've only sailed out of Long Beach or San Pedro (except for a Disney Cruise from Florida in 2007)

Guess we've just been lucky!

Interesting as this particular cruise was 8 days, and not spring break. I guess people just behave badly all year round now, even if they saved 358 days to pay for the cruise they then get arrested on...

As I said, I am dancing around certain aspects of this issue because I don't want to get a lifetime ban from the forums. The long and short of this is that problems are caused by people, not the ship, the port, the time of the year, or even the demon rum. My first cruise was on Carnival out of New Orleans, which nobody can dispute is a party-oriented city. Yet the cruise went off without any major incident that I was aware of.

Have we noticed an uptick in bad behavior since the return of the all-inclusive drink packages a few years ago? If so, is that just a coincidence?

I have been cruising carnival as an adult since the mid 90’s. There have always been those that over indulge. It seems worse now.  Although it could be the same ratio of passengers, but today the ships are huge and there is still only 1 main pool, 1 night club, etc. where people can congregate.

Wrong. Nobody is being penalized.  Done 3 Journeys, there are simple just way more of the “elite class”.  Example:  2019 Breeze Journey cruise.  3300 people, 475 Diamonds and 2000plus Plats.  You can do the math.  All that said, there was NO issue getting off early.

I am not sure you could call a 15 drink a day limitation "all inclusive", I honestly have never counted my daily drinks so I have no idea if this is high or low, but any limitation seems like it would work against becoming drunk and disorderly.

I think you should try drinking 15 drinks and see the outcome. Most people  bunch the drinks together at one time of the day - max effect.

I have never been hindered by the 15 drink limit - I have only reached it a handful of times and usually just order the drink to see the 15 on the receipt
