Gimme your CCL pet peeves

I am not sure who is to blame but I cannot stand kids who run up and down the corridors after 9 or 10pm. It happens mostly on Carnival cruises but I have also seen and heard it on Royal ships. I have a theory: parents let kids run wild at night to tire them out. I want a nice quiet cabin at night so I can sleep. If they had decks without children I would book them.

How about drunks at 2am

I have a few:

I miss actual tablecloths in the main dining rooms and feel like made the dining experience feel more elevated.

I’ve never enjoyed the servers dancing during service.  Half of them seem to enjoy it but the other half clearly…… do not.  For me, it is painful to watch.

I wish they had better late night food options.

Did you pay more on that line

That’s my current pet peeve actually 😂 I want to book a cruise with my two young adult sons for November. They don’t love the MDR so the included food on Carnival is a good fit for us as is the variety of comedy. There are MANY cruises on other lines for 5-6 days that are significantly cheaper than 4 day cruises on Carnival.

Oh... that reminds me, speaking of painful...

They really need to do a better job of vetting the wait staff that they have sing in the MDR.  There's some great voices out there... but I've also had to bare some pretty bad singing.

I agree. The tablecloths were nice. And the servers singing and dancing we find aggravating. We would rather not sit waiting for our meal or dessert while they do their thing. But a lot of folks seem to enjoy it so I think no end is in sight.

They have paper menus...  you only need ask.

I saw a couple ask who were in theirs 80s in the steak restaurant and the waiter gave them a lecture on downloading the app, never did give them a menu.

My pet peeve is I'd like to see some sales .. something for onboard stuff, excursions for instance, or sales on cruises, not just casino rates people brag how cheap their rates are. A one day sale on something .. I often look and it's the same ole every time I look. Nothing to encourage me personally to book. Seems like they dont want my business.

If you cruise a ship with a Havana area (or Terrazza on Venezia), those don’t allow kids under 12.  Not sure if that is old enough to help.

Well, you have to shop.  We took advantage of the $100 pp OBC they were offering for our upcoming cruises...  We booked thru a Big Box and received a few hundred dollars in cash-back incentives for each cruise, so I count that as a price reduction as well.

They are $32 billion in debt, so it's not so easy to offer a lot of incentives.

The people who brag about their casino incentives and pricing are sure pretty tight-lipped about how much their cruise really costs.  Casinos are not staying open and offering those rates because they are giving money away...  😉

My last 2 casino offer cruises:

1.  “Free balcony” (pay $100pp + taxes & port fees, get $200 OBC) plus $200 in casino play + Drinks On Us Everywhere (me only).  I lost $450.00.

2.  Interior for $120 pp plus Drinks On Us (casino only, both of us) + $750 OBC for the cabin.  I lost $250.00.

I’m pretty happy with the value I got out of the deals!  I’m pretty sure the losses didn’t even cover the alcohol we were given (and I’m not a super big drinker) and we got a cheap/free cruise!

My next cruise is “free deluxe ocean view” with Drinks On Us (casino only, both of us).    However, because it is a 10-day cruise, the chance of losing bigger in the casino is a distinct possibility…

Our next cruise is 12 nt $100 OV drinks on us casino.  6 sea days so the casino will get a fair chance to take our budgeted bankroll.

my parents loved to cruise- they stopped because1- they didn't have cell phones ,2- didn't have access to a computer and said it was too much of a headache etc- i can sympathize with them as i much prefer the old way of getting my docs in the mail etc and looking at a paper menu-am not a fan of all this technology...

That's nice in a Sunday

Well, you are pretty opinionated with your responses.  Maybe just stick to your own pet peeves, and don't comment on others because YOU don't agree.

Happy Columbus day.  You realize it's a critics page and everyone here is opinionated?🤦

well, maybe constructive criticism or questions that would instill further information?

I wish they would stop blocking wifi calling/texting. I am paying for the wifi after all and I can stream Netflix, use WhatsApp and Facebook messenger, but I can't get a phone call or text over wifi. I've really enjoyed being able to do that on other cruise lines.

I have Verizon.  I get wifi texts using the Message+ app on the value plan and premium plan.  I've never had the social plan.

Check the settings on your phone.  On Verizon, I have to enable HD Voice in the My Verizon app and turn on wifi calling on my phone's settings.  At one point I had to change a setting in the Message+ app on my S7 and S8 as well, but not on my current phone(S21).

I only recently figured out how to turn on wifi calling on my previous and current unlocked phones(S8 and S21).  Verizon was blocking wifi calling on my unlocked S7 that I purchased directly from Samsung.  Wifi texting still worked on my S7.  I will attempt wifi calling again on my next cruise.

I don't like that the bars have been taken out of the casinos. (It was always a big meeting place for me)

I'm also not happy that most of the old slot machines have been replaced with those video "things."
