In both cases it’s cheating. Royal’s policy is that you can share your C&A drinks but Celebrity’s policy is you cannot share your CC drinks. That’s the difference.

My daughter sailed with me and she got entry to events only. At that time happy hour was a private event so her drinks were free. Now with drinks at most bars there are no drinks free for her. Too many people are abusing the system .. travelling with other couples and have the couple split so that the 2 men are one room and women the other and then getting the cards swapped so they are with their own spouses. This was done to mainly get free drinks at happy hour.. by many. Party is over . Thanks for sharing. Highlighted, was X really losing that much revenue? Remember that it only costs X what they paid for it at wholesale prices. A 1.75L bottle of Smirnoff Vodka bottle retails by me for $17, you get 26 drinks if using standard pours out of it so it costs them $0.65 per drink in vodka in addition to the minimal costs for mixers and labor. Pretty safe bet at wholesale pricing, it only costs X no more than a USD dollar per drink. We also have to consider the alternatives, if they knew they couldn't get free drinks do we think they would have bought those exact drinks individually, would they order doubles which is/was cheaper than two drinks, would they just head to the casino to get free drinks or would they purchase the drink package and ensure they get their money's worth? The overall point is that it generally costs X less for drinks than one thinks

Rare hcat Posted October 16, 2023 #32 Share Posted October 16, 2023 We hardly ever attend Cap Club events anymore. They often allow ALL Cap Club Members access to Elite and Sr Officer events to the point where they are quite overcowded. Many folks come for the drinks rather than the social part. And with all the Diamond crossovers...just too many!

Will she be extended Elite benefits while on this cruise? I booked it under my name with my number. No, as it should be. Both the CC and CAS needs to stop allowing friends, relatives that aren't CC or CAS members or not the tier level for the perks/benefits from receiving any of those perks/benefits even if staying in the same cabin. Just off the Eclipse (15 Oct.) and the CC concierge was checking all Seapass cards for the events and priority tendering unless she recognized her members. Maybe it depends on the ship, CD Cap Club rep? Possibly (?) time of day and port day v sea day may also be a reason why some numbers are greater than others. Our March Apex and our recent Eclipse cruise cruise were both port days at 5:00 so the events for only Elite and above weren't crowded.

The waiter didn't tell me I couldn't order drinks for my friends, nor was it specified in their rules that I am the only one who can drink those drinks. I guess I'm unsure why that would be considered "cheating." I was just asking a simple question about how it works on Celebrity because all I know is RCCL and so far it's been implied that I am a freeloader, cheat, thief, working the system, etc. Way to support each other on Cruise Critic! It is not cheating on Royal. You get 4 vouchers, you are allowed to share with others. I appreciate the question being asked, as my wife and I (both Elite) will be traveling with my early 20's daughter and step-daughter in a few months (one will be select from RCI reciprocity, the other no status at all). My wife and I have had the beverage packages on our previous Celebrity cruise, so no reason to worry about happy hour or even where the free coffee is. I just drink regular brewed, even from the "specialty" coffee places, so any coffee station is fine with me. We are doing just a quick 5 night for the 4 of us, so I will be able to bring enough wine for my habit, and the 3 of them do not drink enough to make a beverage package worth it at the current prices, especially if my wife (who is Elite) can get her couple of glasses of wine at happy hour. If we catch a good flash sale or Black Friday offer that may change. It is nice to know they can attend events with us if we choose to go, and is allowed, and not be separated (in which case we would probably not attend anyway). It would be nice if they could get a few complimentary drinks with us at happy hour, but if not I am paying the tab anyway. RCI and Celebrity are under the same company. As far as the shareholders are concerned, as long as the company makes money, it doesn't matter from which line. Sharing status encourages RCI loyalty members looking for a little different experience to jump to Celebrity (or RCI for Celebrity passengers traveling with kids or grandkids) and keep the money in the company, vs going to CCL's pockets (Carnival, HAL or Princess). And for those Celebrity loyalty members trying out RCI. Enjoy the Diamond (now Crown) lounge, usually the coffee machine works. And I for one am happy you will receive 4 drink vouchers to use or share as you please.

Rare hcat Posted October 18, 2023 #50 Share Posted October 18, 2023 from googke Karen is a pejorative term used as slang typically for a middle-class white woman who is perceived as entitled or demanding beyond the scope of what is normal. The term is often portrayed in memes depicting middle-class white women who "use their white and class privilege to demand their own way".
