Port Everglades - Does Parking Sell Out

Hello,

We moved to Miami a couple of years ago and just started driving to the port. We’ve only done this during off-peak times, but we have an 11-night holiday cruise on 12/22. Should I be concerned that the garages at the port will sell out? We can take an Uber/Lyft, but we’ve been enjoying carrying our luggage off and being home before 10 am.

Thoughts?

I have never heard of parking at Port Everglades ever selling out. If you arrive at the port anytime after 10:00AM most passengers from the last weeks sailings have all ready left the facility and are on there way home. If you arrive after 1:00PM there's still plenty of parking but your vehicle may end up on the top floor of the facility and exposed to the weather.

I agree with @Corby114 but last week I was surprised to see an alert on the home page of the Port Everglades website (www.porteverglades.net) that parking could be challenging last weekend due to a large event at the convention center (which shares the Heron garage with terminals 2 and 4) and 7 ships in port (I presume each day but don’t remember).  I haven’t seen any cruise critic comments about parking last weekend so I presume there were no problems.

Thanks for that note. I’ll check the website the morning of the cruise to see if there’s an alert.

It would be cheaper to take an Uber to the pier, but I like not being stuck in all the people waiting for a car on the way home. So, it will be fine either way since we will be on vacation! lol

I ended up getting offsite parking at the Dania Casino. It can be reserved, ie, guaranteed. I figured we'd do the port and if that was a problem, we'd go to the park n ride, but that is already full, as are other off site locations. They have a shuttle to and from the fenced in parking. Just seemed like one less thing to worry about. Daleed, we are also leaving on the 22nd. Have fun!

Park n Go is my favorite place to park near Port Everglades.  Being local, we drive down to South Florida the night before our cruise and have a reservation guaranteed for parking there.  Advanced payment is much less than paying there and their shuttle takes you directly to the pier and is ready when you disembark.

we sailed from PE for a cruise over Thanksgiving last year and parking was a NIGHTMARE .... It was not our first time sailing from PE but the first time driving (usually fly in or park at child's house who lives near and drives us to the port) We arrived at 10 and most parking was full and folks blocking the entrances. Asking them where parking was available got a shrug and general hand wave ..... eventually I was led to 'the big garage' and directed to park under a big sign: "DO NOT PARK HERE" ..... car WAS there when we returned .....

It taints me so far as ever sailing from PE again ... I surely won't plan to park there

even on the best of times you can be at a terminal with NO nearby parking and as dependent on a shuttle as if you were parked off site.

If I'm flying in same day, PE is nice as it is SO close to the airport. Driving ... not so much. Since I live minutes from Port Canaveral now the flying thing no longer applies . . . and PC gets a big preference over the southern ports . . .

I just checked and they seem to be sold out for our cruise. No messages on the PE website about issues, so we’ll probably try it.

We got the alert from Princess for our 12/9 sailing.  Finding a parking space later on was evidently very difficult.  We found a parking space at 10 am on the 3rd floor after driving up.  Nothing prior to that floor.

@Montanagirlalways We use Park by the Ports - located at the Dania Beach Casino - but there are others that are closer.

@Cruise Suzy how is the wait for the shuttles especially when returning from trip, we normally use Park N Go but considering other options, thanks!
