Question: how do you get your 1 free day of internet as Diamond?

I just saw this as a benefit of my "status."  But I always preorder the Wifi before sailing since it is so much cheaper.  So is there any value to having a "free day" at all?  Because if I wait till booking on board, and book 6n out of 7, even with the 7th being free, it would prob cost more.

Would love to hear how everyone is using this benefit.

Thanks, Katherine

I'm D+ and usually wait until Thursday night midnight and use it for the rest of the cruise. Many I know are couples and one does theirs then the other and they share.

Last cruise the price onboard was less and Wednesday night was 19.99 "for the rest of the cruise". So I paid the $19.99 and got the extra day. Price changes at midnight, so i log in then when prices drop.

You can use your free day on a different device or for a travel companion, as you can only be logged into 1 device at a time.

on a few cruises, I prepaid mine and DH used the the free days.
The downside of that is only 2 ships were able to figure out how he could use my free day(s)
Our upcoming cruise is the first time I did not get the Voom Package. Since we are D+ we each get 2 days, and I am debating how to use them.

It kinda depends on your usage pattern. Some can get by using internet sparingly so that they can use the discount later in the sailing to buy the remaining days on board package. Especially if there are two of you with the benefit, the break even point depends on the discount in the planner but typically you can be ahead on a 7 day sailing buying on board.

If you have a package and want to get your free day for someone else, you have to talk Guest Services or VOOM desk.  You can't just sign on as you are already signed on.  We just did this last cruise.

BTW, you can share your package with another user.  When they log on, it logs you off.  I only buy one internet package and share it with my traveling companion..

The Diamond internet is for 24 hours. Once you are logged in it continually runs until your 24 hours are up. Doesn't matter if you are using it or not.

I assume the value is for those who don't use or need much internet.  I would never pay for internet in most instances.

This is another strange difference between Royal and Celebrity. I'm elite on X, so I get 90 minutes of internet to use whenever. On Royal it's as much as I want, but only in a 24 hour period.   Sure wish they'd both go to a "you get XX amount of data".

I am lucky as my husband very rarely even uses it.

i need it all the time.

We figured out that unless price goes under $15 per day prepaid and it’s a longer cruise, it makes sense to buy it on board using our 4 days.

I use one login with mine 2 days and then another login with a discount of 2 days for the reset of the cruise .

In ports he uses our T-Mobile unlimited data to browse intermet (including open decks of ships)

If you buy the package do you get any kind of credit for the diamond free day?

If you pay pre cruise, you are already getting a discounted price. So no, you don’t get credit. If you only need internet for a day or 2, you will get the credit from the on board price. Usually $26-30 per day.

If you buy Voom pre-cruise, No credit for the free D day.    If you buy onboard then you would receive a credit the daily onboard rate.

Most ships the onboard rate is $24 to $27 a day.     What we do is not get internet on day 1 as we are usually docked until 4 or 5 pm and can use our phones until we are out to sea.

Then we use our free day(s) for day 2 and day 3.

Then depending on our itinerary, we either buy the onboard pkg for day 4 thru day 7.

Plus we are casino prime members and get 30% off the onboard rate so that helps too.

For us this usually works out to be cheaper than buying pre-cruise.

When you buy internet on board for many days in a row you also get discounted price per day. More days you buy, more discounted it gets. Then you can apply amount of 1 or 2 days you get as D or D+, but only one per person
