Diamond Level Free Drinks

Recommended Posts

We do tip the bar or waiter for our free voucher for diamond status . I doubt they get tips from rcl for free drinks. But if they do that's nice. We still go to bank get a wad of ones so we can tip waiter. It's not a significant amount but I think it's a nice gesture.  If you want to if not that's your business. I think tipping in general has gotten out of hand. It use to be something you did as a compliment for good service and was appreciated as such. Now I see it's viewed as a requirement and that's just wrong.

Just an FYI you may know about already, you can get ones from guest services and from the cashier in the casino.

Both limit how much they will exchange.

I have never had a problem at either location, but I always exchange a $20 bill for twenty $1 bills (usually 5-7 times per cruise). I can see there being a limit if I asked for 100 $1 bills in exchange for a $100 bill.

No, I think one time my DH tried to cash a $50 bill and was told they couldn't give that many ones at the casino.  He's done like $10 a few times.  GS gave him the hardest time and basically told him they'd do it once ($20) and to go to the casino.  I carry a lot of singles with me, but sometimes we just need a few more.  I love when I go to the Credit Union and they only have 25 or so singles in their drawer   Our ATM gives $50 bills which I don't want so I usually go in and withdraw directly from a teller so I can get smaller bills.

We've been turned down many times at GS for getting the amount $1's we wanted.  They would only give us 10 at a time.  Can't depend on the casino as it's closed in port.  We get a wad of 1's from the bank before we leave.

We dined at JR on Liberty and they used one of our drink vouchers to pay for our milkshakes. We told them to put the voucher back on our seapass and to charge us cash for the milkshakes. We didn't want to waste vouchers on the milkshakes when they were worth a lot more to purchase an alcoholic beverage.

Absoulty agree. Milkshakes are not worth the use of the voucher. Save them for actual drinks. IF someone does NOT drink alcohol, they can still get frozen fruity mocktales(virgin) drinks. Even those cost more than a shake at JR.

Drinks from the Starbuck's branded kiosk are not included.  Starbucks brand coffee that is served in Royal Caribbean venues is.

There is a coffee card that you can purchase for use at the coffee kiosk. We used it 2 months ago at the Starbucks kiosk. So nice to get an iced coffee mid afternoon. Just ask for a card at the kiosk if you can't find it listed for pre boarding purchase.

You might know this already, but you get a discount when you reach Diamond Plus (30%) and Pinnacle (40%).

We are Diamond Plus, but first time on Royal since becoming Diamond+.  How do we go about getting a discount on the drink package?  Do we have to call?  Is the discount only given on the normal cost of the drink package, or can it be used if there is an advertised "special" off the drink package?

Also, can a drink package be purchased, using the D+ discount, for someone in our party?

The discount can’t be combined with other offers, so often you can find a better price online during the current sale (RCI always has some kind of sale going on which I am sure you know). When I have used it I have always called to get the discount, with one exception when I purchased it on the ship. The discount doesn’t apply for others in your party.

The vouchers are 100% worth it for my minor children.  They are currently using them.  Johnny rockets, NA drinks, they even use them at the patisserie and windjammer coffee shops.

My son stocks up on mocktails and Powerade with his vouchers.

Depends on how you think.  We're not concerned with how much "dollar value" we get out of a voucher.  We use them for what we want.  Milkshakes are one that we use them for a couple of times per cruise on the ships that have JR's.  I'd rather "waste" calories on a milkshake than on a highly sugared mocktail.

On Anthem, I use a voucher on an "adult" JR milkshake.  A Pina Colada milkshake (Malibu Rum)  is pretty tasty.  🙂

I think I know the answer, but I thought it was worth asking. Our upcoming 2025 cruise will be the first one since we reached Diamond status and will have the drink vouchers. My 19 year-old son is also Diamond. You can probably guess where I am going with this🙂. Since he is underage, I assume we cannot go up with him and use one of his vouchers to get his dear old mom or dad a nice cocktail? Thanks!

Nope, can't use minor vouchers for alcohol. But for mocktails, have at it.

We have reports of folks doing just (just use his card, don’t take him to the bar) but that may depend on the ship and/or bartender.

I've done that and they couldn't give me ones also the casino does but they limit the amount if ones. I prefer to be prepared.

Thanks for confirming - he will be pretty happy to have mocktails and even bottles of water!  And he can rub it in his older brother's face who will be 22 but turned 18 before we hit Diamond and was no longer connected to our account. No vouchers for him🙂
