Queen Anne

So to sum up.... yes, a world of difference between a PINNACLE and a VISTA  and maybe the latter is well named!  QA's "Promenade" Deck has 1) no views out to sea, 2) little daylight, 3) narrow enough in places that you'd have a hard time passing another person, 4) no deck chairs and no room for them anyway and 5) you'll note far fewer of the public rooms on this deck even have windows or natural light except right aft in way of the dining room. For good reason as there is little light and no view except the side of a lifeboat.

And here are the ships that immediately come to mind with full view, proper promenade decks (half of these are also beautiful teak-decked, too.. like QM2)

Queen Mary 2

Zuiderdam
Oosterdam
Westerdam
Arcadia
Noordam
Queen Victoria
Costa Luminosa
Queen Elizabeth
Costa Deliziosa

Nieuw Amsterdam

Eurodam

Zaandam

Volendam

Renaissance

Bolette

Borealis

All of the former STATENDAM class have full promenades but I am too lazy to search out all their new names.

IIRC, there are places on K'dam's promenade deck where you can look out to sea. Those were the only pictures I had taken on the promenade deck. Here's a view of the ship in port. You can see places to look out across the stern and the sides near the stern. There's another viewpoint in the bump-out area (between the 2 groups of lifeboats).

To be fair, QA will be longer, so perhaps there will be more places to gaze at the sea. But I wouldn't bet on deck chairs. On K'dam, the only seating is lifejacket storage benches.

So it looks fine for a yomp, but not for a yawn [on a steamer].

All will be revealed to me when we board QA.

Can’t wait to read your review and commentary on QA. I trust you’ll share your thoughts with us.

Yes QA, like the HAL Pinnacles has a full wrap/walk around Prom Deck but it is not wide enough for any deck or steamer chairs.

There maybe a few wooden benches (with Life jackets in).
The sea views are very limited due to the placement of the large lifeboats at deck level.

The Top Pavilion pool and some upper deck areas/QG Terraces and the rear/aft Panorama Club Pool deck are pretty spacious.
The Panorama Pool Club may not be always that peaceful for some folk as it has themed DJs and live bands lined up, so the area and Bar could be more lively on some cruises.
There is also the Sky Bar and Observation deck on the Top forward deck.

All of the Vista/Signature Class ships plus the QM2, have the Prom Decks that we all like and love on to sit on to watch the world go by.....As does the the P&O Aurora.

If folk are interested, then I will, hopefully with other CC members who sail on her in her infancy so we can get a cross section of thoughts of Cunard's 'baby'.

I'm a yomper, not a yawner [#26] so the promenade issue won't greatly influence my thoughts as it will others.

Interesting times.

Yes, we will look forward to that and of course, a number of earlier ones.

I’ll gladly join you in reporting, Victoria2.  I have absolutely no desire to sail on many of the vessels listed above.  I have no need to lounge on a deck chair, either.  I’ll have a balcony for that, should I find time in my daily routine aboard.  My focus is on Queen Anne, the title of this thread.  While I understand and appreciate learned and Cunard commentators, I respectfully request the negative posters to allow us to board, experience QA’s ambience, and submit our individual review.

I like to do both, and also much enjoy the contrast between lounging on Deck 3 and lounging up on the Grills terrace. The views are both fascinating and fascinatingly different.

Yes, there are places to sit other than the promenade deck. But most of the renderings I've seen show uncovered spaces, and I prefer to be in the shade. Apparently, if I want to have fresh air and shade, I have to take a class in the wellness studio.

Yes,  Just had the same email for an upcoming QM2 voyage. I expect the email refers to 'Across the fleet'  The reference to 'Alternative' now refers to either the Veranda restaurant or the Pop up Themed evening meals in the Lido/Kings Court.

A reliable source at Southampton head office ( NOT confirmed yet)  gave me to understand that there is a possibility that the Diamond loyalty meal might be extended to any of the 'other' Speciality restaurants on the new Queen Anne .

Watch this space .

Well as QA doesn’t have a Verandah or a Lido under those names or any mention of pop ups, it will have to include something.

I booked the Luxury Celebration Package (it was on sale at a reasonable price) and they list the restaurants for that below. So it MAY be the same two for the Diamond level benefit?

Steakhouse at The Verandah (Queen Victoria, Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth) or Sir Samuel's or Aji Wa (Queen Anne).

Seems reasonable. What is Aji Wa going to specialise in?

We're hoping that's a Diamond perk. If not, we will certainly book it after ascertaining anything we fancy can't be replicated for dinner in the restaurant.

Should lounging beckon, I shall happily enjoy the contrast between our balcony (Q3) and the Grills Terrace, although from a perusal of the deck plans, I don't believe Queen Anne's GT will quite match QE's.  However, we most certainly did not reserve our forthcoming British Isles exploration for terraces.

We are very much looking forward to another Cunard experience, and relish the thought of witnessing, at first hand, Cunard history.  My intention is to review this new vessel honestly and objectively (with the exception of aspects of cuisine, wine, etc. which are always, to a degree, subjective).  At our age, we would hardly expect to be entering utopia on embarkation in Southampton, but we are very excited to begin our own Queen Anne experience. I actually wouldn't dream of passing judgement on anything similar to this life moment for many of our fellow passengers from a keyboard.

I harbour similar sentiments about our voyage on Oceania's Vista, which we will begin in a little over two weeks.  There are some Vista detractors on the Oceania board who have never sailed on her.  We may not enjoy either experience, but at least we will be able to say we've given them a shot.  It will actually be fascinating to compare two new vessels of different lines.  If we don't wish to return to either, then there are other wonderful ships in both lines, and another favourite, Seabourn, awaiting.

The point I was trying to convey was that there may be an opportunity for us to have a choice from any one of those new ( QA) additional speciality restaurants for our diamond complimentary meal.

A friend was on her in May and posted lots of photos. It all looked stunning. Just not what we're looking for.

Question to all experienced Cunard travellers: Is it noisy if you have a cabin directly below the Commodore's Club? There are many on Queen Anne deck 11 forward.

None of the other Cunard ships have cabins under the Comm Club so hard to tell. The Comm Club is pretty mellow so there’s not much noise to begin with.
