Fire again on Freedom

After the last fire, did she immediately get repaired or did she sail with a half burned tail? Any photos?

Carnival Conquest had to come down to Grand Turk to bring the guests back to Port Canaveral. Freedom then sailed to Freeport looking like this:

After 4 canceled cruises, they made a temporary repair

And then here are the new wings at the shipyard in Cadiz before it was put on the ship in October

As you may have heard, Carnival Freedom experienced a fire in its funnel yesterday. While we continue to investigate eyewitness reports of a lightning strike, our technical team completed an assessment while the ship is in Freeport today.
Regrettably, the damage is more than we first thought and will require an immediate repair to stabilize the funnel and that necessitates the cancellation of your cruise.
We sincerely apologize for the unanticipated disruption to your spring break plans and are deeply disappointed that we will not be able to deliver the cruise we had planned for you. We will automatically process a full refund of your cruise fare, including pre-purchased Carnival shore excursions and any FunShop purchases to your original form of payment.
Please be advised that it could take up to three weeks to process through your bank. In addition to the full refund, we are extending a 100% future cruise credit (FCC) for all guests so that we can welcome you back on another cruise.* Please note that the FCC will be available for use starting March 26, 2024, and must be redeemed by March 31, 2025, on any departure open for sale. If you have made non-refundable air travel arrangements on your own, we ask that you work directly with your airline.
If your airline offers you an air credit for your non-refundable tickets, we will reimburse you for air change fees of up to US$200.00, per person, with supporting documentation. Please understand that, should you receive any compensation from any party, including your travel insurer, for these miscellaneous travel expenses, no reimbursement will be provided. Please submit your documentation to airreimbursements@carnival.com

I know this is very disappointing news for those who were so excited to have Fun on the Carnival Freedom and I do add my most sincere apologies. I hope you and your family can use the 100% refund and the 100% future cruise credit to plan on having more fun with us very, very soon.
I will be back on this page as usual tomorrow to help as many of you as I can and for now wish you all goodnight.

She is about to be a stump again….. I wonder how they plan on getting people onboard right now home?

John Healds post says the funnel is stabilized enough to return to Port Canaveral to debark guests then it’s back to Freeport for the “repair”.

A real gambler who lives close enough to Port Canaveral to take a trip on short notice and has free time could book a slot on the April 4th sailing. There are still inside and suite cabins available. If it ends up being cancelled, you'd presumably get your money back and a 100% cruise credit. But you'd have to be willing to take the cruise if it goes.

Wait, that's 11 days away, not this week. Never mind.

I’m currently on the ship, apparently a lightning strike hit the exhaust up top(same spot as last) bunch smoke and fire obviously but we just got word the fire is out and now they’re just working on debris on the 10th deck. Nobody in their rooms, everyone gambling and drinking lol

Sorry y'all had to go through all that. Some of the articles on line are confusing. (Not Here on Cruise Critic). One article said nobody can go on the open decks and another account said passengers sequestered to their Cabins. Looks like the ship is heading back to the home port. (Miami)? I'm glad to hear cruisers are dining and at the Casino. Are any last night activities cancelled?

wow.  I'm looking at doing my first carnival cruise and I'm setting on the Freedom in November.  googled the ship to see what it's like, and saw stories about this fire.  glad everyone is alright.

I know the feeling. We had booked way in advance a cruise for our 30th anniversary a Baltic cruise on the Star Princess. And then that ship had its balcony fire the year before, and we wondered about that.

Where was this posted? I don't see it on Heald's Facebook page.  I've got friends scheduled to depart on April 6th on Freedom and have been looking for updates.

I'm wondering how they were able to keep going in a situation like this- @chengkp75 if you wouldn't mind imparting some wisdom here. Do they divert all of the exhaust/emissions to the other side or would the fire not have affected the piping in the area of the fire?
