Big Changes Coming to RCCL's Loyalty Program

Recommended Posts

Every time that commercial comes on, DH says, "Why would I want to See Alice?" I admit, he can be a dork sometimes. :D
Thats too funny....:D

Well, I am aware that they give a glass ship momento on every tenth cruise after 20....and they give some recognition at 50, 75 and 100, but I don't think it increments up perks in between those numbers. I haven't seen anything in writing anyway. So, I'd like to learn more.

It is supposed to be 30,Im 99% sure, but like Jean said(quote below) some ships give them at 20......the Enchantment for sure.......

The crystal blocks are supposed to start at 30 cruises (since you're not DP until 25, after all), but some people have gotten them at 20. With the way the C&A computers are screwed up, I've gotten 2 50th blocks, on Monarch and Vision. And my 50th cruise credit won't be until March on Mariner. But I told both LAs that I wouldn't give them back, LOL. And you get an expanded list of amenities at 50, including flowers (12 roses, tropical romance or English garden arrangements), more logo stuff, better white wine (Geyser Peak Sauvignon Blanc) champagne & strawberries, more things that I can't remember. But I haven't seen it in writing, either.

OHHHHHHH.Jean, you told the big hush hush secret..;) ;)

I read the first 50 posts and I have read the last page so please forgive me it this has been answered in between.............

But someone mentioned that the perks between platiumn and diamond are great, I am guessing some are "unwritten" and depending on the ship.

But, what is the difference between the coupon books and how much more do you get off on a balcony, suite etc. being diamond...

Thanks for the input.......

Thanks Critter for the list of extras for 50+. The only time I have seen anything in writing was in the original letter sent for Diamond + back in September of 2004. It was very vague about any perks beyond the D+ benefits shown on the RCCL web site.

It seems that the perks vary for ship to ship even sailing to sailing. We sailed the same ship with 6 weeks time and had more perks on the first sailing.

We MAY receive, a fruit basket, upgraded bathroom amenities, robes (sometimes we have to ask) sweets delivered to the cabin (sometimes each night – sometimes once for a 7 day cruise)

Even the Plat/Dia event has varied from as nice as a lunch in Chops to a simple ( too simple) cocktail reception on our recent Mariner Voyage.

I think the number of Plat/D and D+ drives the decisions of what is offered.

Who knows?

Since cruisemiami posted some problems with the Brilliance, I just thought I'd mention that when it's posted that something is happening or supposed to happen on the Brilliance, it doesn't necessarily pertain to the rest of the fleet.

It was no problems on the Brilliance. I had no problems on the Brilliance.

I would call them "cutting back" a little. I liked better when I did not need to ask for ice, but we asked for it, and got it. Is asking for ice will keep us from cruising RC? No, no, no. We love cruising RC and we'll not change; 36 RC cruises and 12 were on the Brilliance, one more is coming in two weeks.

We dont agree with the "cutting back", because is like taken a toy away from a child.

The Jewel in Nov 07, was the same, so "I" do think the changes are coming to the rest of the fleet, little by little. And that is only my opinion!!!!!!

We are diamomd+ and we get 300 dollars off a balcony, but that also depends on how many cruising days. We just booked the Mariner for SEP 7, and I think we are getting 200 off a balcony, because is only a 7 days cruise.

The coupons book for diamonds and diamonds+ are a little different from the one for Platinum, but no much: free wine testing; 20% off the spa; one free picture (any size); free 20 minutes internet; free coffe at Lattitude; one bar credit with souvenir glass; 3 free spin at special slot machine in the Casino (I got keychains);free Ben and Jerry icecream (but is not Ben and Jerry on the Radiance class ships); something for Johnny Rockets, but again not Johnny Rockets on the Radiance class ship; some discount for the logo store, but not good on sale items; some 20% discount on a second bottle of wine, and some others that I can't remember right now.

Hope that this helped a little.

Have a good night.

Small Concierge Lounges are certainly a problem on the Radiance Class ships. You can't take a perk away that people have come to expect. Royal is aware of this fact and has no plans on taking away people's loyalty benefits. They know it would cause mass migration from the cruise line. Their solution is changing the levels in which people attain these benefits.

Actually, perks are taken away regularly. No soda in the Dining room, and now having a charge at Johnny Rockets.

If they don't keep up the perks, people will start to feel cheated. Like many older cruisers now feel cheated because they have to go to specialty restaurants to get the same service and food they used to in the free dining rooms. Also, I heard they want to do away with breakfast and lunch in the dining rooms

If you check out the RCI website, you'll see the Brilliance is always listed separately with a different cruise contract.

The Brilliance is run by RCI(UK)LTD - a subsidiary of RCCL.

That's why the Seaview Cafe has a different menu from the other Radiance class ships. So, just because something is done (or not done) on the Brilliance doesn't mean it's that way for the rest of the fleet.

They seem to play by their own rules.

Never heard this before. Maybe that's why I read so many negatives about the Brilliance.

For what it's worth, I spent 24 days on her in June. It was the best cruise experience I've ever had in terms of service and ship quality. Only my Alaska cruise was better, because, well, it was Alaska =)

I might be wrong about the Brilliance, but there have been posts about things that are done differently on her. Most things are the same, but the Seaview Cafe menu is one of the differences. And she is managed by a different group than the rest of the fleet.

I can understand not having the dining room open for lunch on port days, but the Windjammer would not be able to support everybody for breakfast and lunch on sea days.

Also, since most people are out of their cabins during the day, most of the ice probably goes to waste.

I never thought about being a diamond member our first platinum cruise was this past November and for us we were just delighted to have the balcony discount and the few other perks. It took us two years to reach platinum and diamond just seemed to far away. I have to agree with one of the other posters and say we do cruise RCL because we enjoy the line, the perks are nice but if they changed their program we will still enjoy sailing with RCL. We laugh now since we have become platinum members our balcony discount helps to pay the fuel surcharge.

Seriously I've been reading on here how crowded the diamond and diamond plus events have become and something needed to happen, I'm glad that they will grandfather in the current members and maybe give the ones that are one cruise away a little time to get there. For us we are happy where we are.
