All things "Victory"

Okay, I'm resigning myself to the fact that Victory probably won't have the FunShip 2.0 upgrades before my target sailing date in mid-October (the 5-day 'exotic' E. Caribbean). So, no Guy's Burgers, no Red Frog or Blue Iguana bars, no Blue Iguana Cantina.... :(

Having sailed on Liberty in all her FunShip 2.0 glory last month, what other differences can I expect between the two ships?

What eateries are on both? What eateries on Victory take the place of the new ones on Liberty? Is the Serenity area the same? (And do they lamely close the hot-tubs at 9pm on Victory also?) Is the aft pool area adult-only with a retractable roof like on Liberty?

The other itinerary I'm considering is the same one I traveled before, Liberty's 7-day E. Caribbean, but it's much more pp and I'm not sure I'm ready for another 7-day cruise, and I'm sure my two cats at the house would agree. :)

I'm not right up on when Victory has her next dry dock, but if everything stays the same as it is now until you sail in October, you will not find any specialty restaurants on her. There is a pool grill at the rear of the lido buffet, a deli station on one side at the front of the buffet and a wok station on the other side at the front. There is also a sushi cart before dinner and a coffee/dessert bar ($$). The aft pool does have a retractable roof but the area is not adult only. The Serenity area is mid-ship starboard side on Decks 10 & 11 and has two big, rectangular hot tubs that on our sailing were monitored and closed at 11:00 p.m.

I didn't realize Victory had a Serenity area at all. Midship? Doesn't sound very serene (which has been what I've found on the Fantasy-class ships and Glory). Glory got all the noise from the pool and big TV during the day.

OK, just had a look at Victory's deck plans. Serenity is a bit different than Glory. I've also found that when people are sitting in the hot tubs, that they tend to bellow at each other, which also makes the Serenity area not-very Serene. And having a portion up there by the slide entrance? That's where all the squeeling kiddies are!

Pellaz, you could pull up the deck plans for both ships in different browers and look at them to compare. Victory is smaller and, unfortunately, while there is an upstairs seating area in the buffet, there is no Fish & Chips.

I manage to find plenty to eat even on the little old Fantasy-class ships! :p

From various sources, it sounds like it might be a sailing or two AFTER my mid-October target :(

The deli sounds like it might be in the same spot on both ships (starboard side aft of the midship Lido pool, along the corridor). Not sure about the Mongolian Wok, which was in the middle of the Lido buffet area on Liberty with two lines; you started outboard and worked your way over to the grilling station amidships. Doesn't matter; I love the Wok and will take it either way. Bonus points if they still have teriyaki sauce instead of black bean. :)

The aft pool does have a retractable roof but the area is not adult only.

Are there also two hot-tubs back there? I'm assuming the Pizza Pirate and "Good Eats" stations are there also, as they are on Liberty....

The Serenity area is mid-ship starboard side on Decks 10 & 11 and has two big, rectangular hot tubs that on our sailing were monitored and closed at 11:00 p.m.

Wow, that IS a pretty major change. One drawback of having the Serenity area near the bow on ships with the 2.0 upgrades is that it can be especially windy up there. On our sailing, it was closed due to high winds on at least one occasion.

We have a big group doing B2B on the Victory 2/28 and 3/4 and was hoping someone here has been on board recently and can give us some info! Looking for the following:

What shows are they doing right now?

What comedians are in the comedy club?

Scanned Fun Times or Dining room menus?

Is the piano bar entertainer good?

Any photos or reviews of balcony cabins on Verandah or Lido deck? (8202 and 9225)

Thanks for any info!

Just off the Victory 1/20 and 1/27 sailings.

First show was the "America" show - can't remember exact name. Can't remember if the "new" name is living in america or city lights or something like that. It's good, not great. Second show is "Vroom" - arguably the best Carnival show.

We had three comedians who overlapped weeks: Macio, Just June, and John somebody. Enjoyed Macio out of those three. Not a fan of the other two. First week we had Happy Cole - love him. Second week we had someone we hadn't seen on Carnival before - sry, can't remember name offhand - but thought he was good, not great.

No dining room menus. I have the fun times, but they'll be different for the shorter cruises anyway.

Dana was our piano bar guy. Awful, just awful. Sorry to disappoint you. He couldn't carry a tune, his voice was yucky. And he did NOT know how to entertain. Most of the time the piano bar was totally empty - we saw four people in there one night - the largest crowd we saw.

We had an inside on Lido - Asti took good care of us. Keep in mind there are no refrigerators. Generally speaking - our dining service was a bit slow. Cabin service was not great the first day, but after that we were quite happy. Food was typical Carnival menu, quality generally not quite as good as our last sailing, but still fine. The ship itself definitely needs an overhaul, but staff worked hard to keep it clean and looking nice. Entertainment staff did a great job.

Has anyone sailed in cabin 1055 on the Panorama Deck? How are the balcony and the location?

Stayed in 1057 and loved the deck and location. Next time since its only five nights I'm starting out on Upper Deck but may move on up. You are so close to all the on deck activities on Lido and Panorama is quiet.

Thanks. I'm looking forward to this location -- different from what I'm used to.

Has anyone stayed on the Main Deck of the Victory?

We were previously planning on cruising the Ecstacy this summer but are now looking at cruising the Victory this fall and noticed only the Riviera and Main deck were available for most of the ocean view cabins.

Just wondering if the Main deck is preferable or not?

Just wondering if anyone has new pic of this ship ? esp. for room 7216 on Empress deck ?

do they still have the wok and sushi ?

I just got off the Victory May 27, 2013 sailing. I don't have pics of your room but I can confirm that they do have a chinese food place opposite side of the deli on lido deck and sushi was available on deck 5 right outside the casino bar starting at 6pm.

What kind of Chinese food did they have available? I'm guessing it wasn't stir-fry/Mongolian wok style....
