Tell me about the Splendor

You will love it! It is a beautiful ship. When I sailed in July, they had the best cast of Playlist Performers that I have seen on any Carnival ship. (I have sailed on 29 cruises). The singers(amazing voices) and dancers were absolutely AMAZING! If Chloe is your Cruise Director, you will love her. She is one of the best. I also love the adult aft pool as someone else mentioned. I didn't hate anything about the ship.

We loved the Splendor! The bar staff at the El Mojito (very similar to Alchemy) were absolutely phenomenal. There was a duo called Run for Cover and they were spectacular. We couldn't wait until they came on every night, they could really get people on their feet. Our only dislikes are there are no Guy's Burger, and we didn't care for Chloe the CD, but we'd sail the Splendor again in a heartbeat!

Splendor was our first cruise and our 16th cruise (Nov '16).

One of the things I loved about Splendor was the Tandoor. I love Indian Food!! Had it for lunch a couple of times.

The last cruise we were on, service had gone downhill but that doesn't mean that it will for you. Crew is constantly changing and you may find yourself with superior staff. That wasn't meaning the entire crew gave bad service either. Found a great bartender out on Lido and a great one (joceyln) at El Mojito wine bar. Went there every night for a martini and she was a great conversationalist. A couple of the bands were very good also.

Another thing I disliked what that we were asked "morning or evening Service" by the room steward on the second day. I am a big fan of twice daily servicing just like it has been since our first cruise. I sure hope Carnival discontinues this way of servicing.

I agree with you that group was without a doubt one of the best cast of singers and dancers. Their contract ended in September. One of the male dancers is now on the Freedom and 5 of cast are in rehearsals to go to the Breeze starting in February.

Chloe is off the Splendor until the end of February or the beginning of March.

I love the amount of open deck space compared to the Conquest class. I also enjoy the layout, I like having the middle pool covered with the aft pool open. I also really love the aft pool! I enjoyed my spa stateroom when I had one and the amenities that came with it. You will love Splendor, she is such a great ship! :D

Regarding morning or evening service, I guess you didn't realize that you could request both. Now you know for your next cruise.

I could be wrong but I believe the Splendor has been upgraded with the 2.0 upgrades like Guy's Burgers and the Alchemy Bar. Or maybe it's the Pride I'm thinking of? Following.

Just got off Splendor Sunday and no Guy's or Alchemy. I love that it still has the Mongolian Wok! The ship never felt crowded. We has a spa balcony and enjoyed the spa benefits that came with it. If you decide on a spa balcony I would recommend one on deck 10. We were on 11 and it's not covered.

She was our first Cloud 9 spa & we were hooked immediately! It's been a struggle to book other ships that don't offer it. Yes, really.

We also found a cool stargazing spot. Where the mini golf is, there's a small and narrow pathway that leads to a canted set of windows (the gym I believe) and there's a bit of a ledge you can sit on and lean back on the windows (gently) - and just listen to the waves and watch for falling stars! I'm pretty sure this is how the cleaning crew gets to those windows to clean them. Not off limits, not gated, not anything but a cool "secret spot" -

We haven't sailed Splendor in awhile, but the family is booked for Hawaii when she comes to the west.

I honestly thought the ship décor was pretty. CCL ships are definitely not traditional liner décor, but I loved the pink ! DH disliked the dining room 'pink eggs" but I liked it.

The black granite staircase is beautiful too.

When we sailed, the casino was only open on one side. Did they change that? I didn't like having to walk past there to get forward because of the cigarette smoke, and they set up a photo shoot right there.

We had an aft L shaped balcony, and I didn't like that. The bathroom door was so close to the bed, it was hard to get past.

That said, CCL has some of the largest staterooms, and wonderful beds.

We ate all dinners in the MDR, and we thought the food was pretty good. I don't remember any buffet food, so it must have been ok or I would have remembered.

Sorry that I can't be of more help.

Patti

Hi everyone. Could you tell me whether a Brit would like the ship? Although I take reviews with a large pinch of salt they make for 'interesting' reading as there appear to be lots of grumbles, some recurring eg dirty cabins.

I've always thought of Carnival as party ships with lots of childish competitions (I'm sure I read about bellyflops in the pool type of thing) but would be happy to be corrected.

The Splendour is part of a larger holiday package including Navigator of the Seas and the Queen Mary 2 so very different. Carnival part is November to the Caribbean. Presumably at that time of the year there wouldn't be many children?

We've just come off the Breakaway which I actually enjoyed more than I expected.
