Four Adults in Legend OV?

I'm looking at an Alaska cruise with my husband and 2 adult children. How tight is an OV cabin? We normally would aim for two cabins, but we would have more money to spend on excursions if we could be in one. Thanks for the help.

Tighter than pantyhose two sizes small... Lol. We shared a balcony with two pre teen boys and it was very cramped from every perspective . We are room people so if you only sleep in the room, it's fine but if you lounge in your room, might be tight. Try connecting cabins or one inside one OV.

We do triples all the time on the Miracle. Usually 4K or 7A. The bunk for the fourth will be above the sofa.

Bring extra hangars and pack light.

Use the laundry

When we have a bunk, we'll bring a small pocket holder to hang on the hook. (could bring a magnetic hook) the upper pockets become the nightstand for the upper bunk. The lower pockets can be used by the sofa sleeper.

Bring extra magnetic hooks for your jackets.

Share what can be shared. Divide the shelves and drawers. Use your suitcases to hold extra.

Since I have been receiving "free cruise offers" from my local casino & Carnival 4 of us have shared an oceanview cabin about 5 times. We bring extra hangers, each get a shelf in one closet, each get a drawer and the person who sleeps on the coach uses the 2 drawers at the bottom of it. We put all the suitcases under the beds. You just have to be mindful of the time you stay in the bathroom. We ask the room steward for extra pillows, towels and blankets and only have the cabin serviced in the evening. It will definitely save you enough money for excursions.

Ah yes forgot about the bathroom.

Only bathroom 'duties' should be done in there. All primping etc should be done outside.

The ocean views with pullman beds would be less cramped. The real issue with 4 in a small room is sharing a tiny bathroom.

A possible work-around for the bathroom, though less convenient, is to use the Fitness Center/Spa Locker room for showering and what-not. I often use the locker room to shower and prepare for a elegant nights while my wife uses the cabin bathroom.

We have 2 adults and a teen (14) right now and get a balcony and I would not even think of doing an inside or OV for the 3 of us. We have that little extra piece of outside real estate which can alleviate some of that crowded feeling inside the cabin. Use the gym bathrooms and showers, they have a big space to get ready and hair dryers etc. on most of the ships. It is the only way for you to deal with 1 bathroom.

Seriously, I would get 2 cabins, preferably connected so that you can open the door between the rooms, that way you have much more space and 2 bathrooms to use. Believe me, you will start out as friends in the beginning but it is tight space and 4 different personalities to deal with. Don't worry about excursions and only do what you can afford in the long run, you can save it for the next time if need be.

I think the key is to plan on using spa bathrooms to shower and get ready, at one or two of you a day. We have an 11 & 13 year old and usually go with a balcony room (same size as the OV) and we are fine. I always pack extra hangers and I always do laundry at least once. We just came off the Legend from Alaska and I did laundry twice this trip because we were in Seattle a few days.

The Legend spa bathrooms and showers are great. Also, there are plenty of nice public bathrooms family members can use when they know they "have to go" and might hog the bathroom at peak times. My husband started every morning when he woke up with a "stroll down Rodeo Drive"...a nice bathroom spot directly a level down or two from our room.[emoji23]

I think this comes down to personal comfort level and whether all the adults in your group are willing to work together to make it doable and comfortable for everyone. That said, there are a lot of sitting areas on the Legend all over the ship. It is easy to find a quiet spot to get away from your room and sit and watch the water or read for hours. The gym area is also a good option for showering, etc. Packing light will be a must. Something I didn't do well on my most recent Legend trip to AK. Make a commitment to stay out of each other's way and an effort to allow each of you some alone time (or privacy for the couple) during each day and to get together for meals or excursions. Pace yourself with your togetherness in other words. I myself have two teenage children who I adore but a week in a cabin with both of them I would never be able to handle.

Since you are sailing the Legend, why don't you look into 2 4K's...classified as interior, but have French doors that can be opened. Try to get between lifeboats. I don't know if they have any connecting in that category. They are great cabins. I think much better than an OV.

Here's my $.02 -- check the prices. Sometimes people thinking that they are saving a lot of money by squeezing into 1 cabin instead of 2. Price out 2 OV, 2 PT (if you have to have windows) or 2 french door insides. You might find that it really won't cost much more.

Might be too late to book but there are connected balcony/inside combos all the way forward on a few of the decks.

The cabin is approx 185 sq ft. It will be very tight but doable. Storage and bathroom would be the main issues. Everyone would need to be very considerate of others.

The problem with packing for an Alaska cruise is you need to wear layers and plan for all weather so you are bringing stuff for cold weather and hot weather which means more of each for everyone. With four people ,that's tight on storage space.

If you could book a cabin near a public restroom just in case, would be good and also as another poster said, the spa/gym showers are available.

Alaska is AMAZING!

I am probably in the minority here and certainly in my family but I prefer having 4 adults vs. two cabins with two adults in it. I've done two and four adults before and think four adults is pretty cramped, most of the issues have to do with finding a place to put your stuff. If everyone commits to packing light, it isn't too bad, make sure you consider getting compact suitcases. Our hardshells didn't fit under the bed and that was a problem with four people but would have annoyed me with 2 people. When we have two rooms I feel like I'm less energetic because I can just go back to the room and relax pretty much whenever I want, I also sleep in later. For some this is welcome but I like to experience the ship/port/casino not spend time in my cabin. I also HATE trying to find people and I feel like when there are more rooms we're always trying to figure out where the rest of our family/friends are.
