If you're not a trivia buff..what do you do?

Recommended Posts

On sea days, what do you do if you don't feel like doing trivia?

We're heading out again in a week and I'm really feeling like I don't want to be stuck doing trivia...AGAIN...with hubs and kiddo.

Laying out by the pool has no appeal since we live in a subdivision with a pool for the residents and I'm there nearly every day from about May until mid-late September (whenever they decide to close the pool..sometimes it's hot enough here to use the pool right up into October).

So give me some ideas. What do YOU guys do, besides play trivia all dang day?

Casino, sports bar, random activities that interest the wife, water works, miniature golf, ping pong, and sorry :), but lots of simply relaxing on an outside deck with a cold drink. Can't beat the view.

I sympathize with you. Sea days are not my favorite.

Is there a Behind The Scenes tour you can take? Those are pretty interesting. Do you want to be together with your family? Maybe there are things you would enjoy on your own. I take some of the fun classes like line dancing or whatever. Then when you all get together, you have something to share and laugh about.

There are many that don't know Jack, so they then cheat. And then the cheaters are competing with those that have already heard the same questions from a previous cruise.

Plenty of other things to do, including making new friends, which you can still do while cheating at the trivia games.

I have never played the trivia, but I don't remember what I did instead. Probably watched the water and walked around the outer decks enjoying the atmosphere.

Maybe you could make up your own game of People Watching Bingo to play with your family. Bring along some simple prizes. It could be fun!

I spend a lot of time eating and then sleeping on my balcony or in my stateroom, depending on the room I have. Love the steakhouse demonstration, which is always on a sea day. Did the Behind the Fun tour once, which I loved. Hang out in the hot tubs, and sometimes go to yoga, a free class, or use the machines, since all I am doing the rest of the time is eating and sleeping ;). I go to places that have free alcohol, like the champagne art auction and the past guest party (wasn't on a sea day my last cruise though). I also bring a book and will read at least half and up to a whole book. Good luck, I rarely/never do trivia.

I agree that some of the ships have little of interest to do on sea days! We like Trivia but after doing it so much we did very little on the last cruise!

I go to dance classes if they have them. I might play Bingo . DH plays in the casino but I can't be in there much because of smoke.

We play backgammon(bring our own board) so you could use the board games that are available. Next time I plan to play mini golf.

We also walk the upper deck for exercise and try the gym. We also don't use the pool because we are lazy and have one closer at hand at home!

We both also read and chat with folks we meet on board.

Walking around ship and jogging track, mini golf, relaxing on balcony, bingo and people watching. Always something entertaining going on around you.

  • Play in the Casino
  • Shop in the Fun Shops
  • Play a Game of Bingo
  • Read a book out on Promenade Deck
  • Listen to music on an iPod or iPad
  • Go to Tea Time
  • Go to the Spa
  • Go play Mini Golf

The options are endless and if you don't like any of these then just sit on your balcony (if you will have one) and watch the Sea go by :)

Lay by the pool, hot tub, eat, drink, pool games, read a book, watch the ocean, shop, people watch.

I live in Iowa so the pool is an attraction to me. I could spend half the day just watching the ocean and enjoying warm weather.

Sea days rule. I use them to take photos of every inch of the ship. Just being at sea, on a giant ship, is enough for me.

However, if you're on one of the ships with a waterpark, that's always tremendous fun.

Sea days are my favorite! :)

I, however, like the pool (even though we live in Florida).

Here are some of the things I occupy myself with while at sea:

Pool, cocktails, casino, cocktails, people-watching, reading books and magazines, cocktails, crossword puzzles, napping, cocktails, wandering around and exploring, cocktails, playing solitaire (I bring cards), martini-tasting, and cocktails.

Cocktails -- did I mention cocktails?

What to do on sea days? Three words: Kindles are amazing. :D

I usually go thru 4 books on a 7 day cruise.

That's the spirit, though I went through at least a dozen on both cruises I've been on. Granted, they were mostly short books, but still...

Book the Valor. Only 1 sea day.

This too. The Valor's itinerary is awesome. The ship's not bad either.

When nothing interesting is on the schedule, my wife and I like to sit in the Lido restaurant next to a window and watch the seas and play cards that we bring. That and spending time enjoying each others company.

Get a Kindle Paperwhite. Spend a little more and get the nifty case. We bought two in June and I've rediscovered the joy of reading.

Spend some time on the promenade passageway people watching, incredible.

The Behind The Scenes tour is usually the last sea day. I just went again because my wife got an interest in going. Really great tour.

Naps.

Discover the gym about mid-day. The Life Fitness equipment is top tier and the exercise bikes are great with televisions.

I do photo editing from our time ashore on sea days. Laptops are cheap, so I leave the MacBook at home and mass edit on Windows PC with Googles free software Picasa.

More to come. I have a case now!

People Watch!

Lately we've been switching between Princess and Carnival.

The People Watching is much, much more interesting on Carnival. Also the trivia cheats on Carnival are nothing like those on Princess. Many get some free internet and google the answers!
