  1. Did you have to use their hotel to get a pre and post deviation?
  2. Most of my flights have been domestic on AA or delta and I have always been able to select my seats and upgrade if I chose to. I had to pay for any checked bags. My international flights were to Panama and 1 free checked bag was included by the airline (Delta) and DR (Delta) where I have to pay for checked bags. I don't have status on any airline.
  3. Whenever I get NCL flights, I inquire about the hotel they use and it's always been MUCH more expensive than what I can find on my own. Well this time, I got a great deal for my 2-night stay in Vancouver at the Hilton Vancouver Downtown, $780 USD total. If I booked this myself, it would be around $1200. I still looked around online and couldn't find anything significantly cheaper that was comparable in quality. Even the YWCA was just slightly cheaper at $703 once the taxes and fees were added. None of my friends can understand my excitement, so I thought I would share here 🙂
  4. I've done B2B on Carnival but never NCL. I am booked for my 1st one on the Escape out of NYC in 2025. I can't believe how excited I am about this one. I have waited so long to sail on Escape and for it to be in NYC where I don't have to fly to, I definitely signed up for that B2B when I saw I could do it with no repeats. Bahamas and Bermuda.
  5. I think it depends on if you also book your hotel through NCL or not.
  6. Just no show then cancel any prepaid items (excursions, dinners, etc). once onboard before any cancellation deadlines.
  7. I tend to not see much past the bottom of my cup during sailaway. LOL
  8. Like I said, it depends on what a person needs the access for. If just checking email a couple times during the cruise, then this might be better than paying for a daily rate a couple of times.
  9. Check out Verizon's web page for international travel. They have a $20 cruise ship plan for 50MB of data. Between that, the free wifi available in ports and the $10 travel pass, you might come out cheaper depending on your anticipated usage. At least it does for my upcoming cruise. But it's just me. If people are sharing, it will likely be cheaper to get an internet plan from Carnival.
  10. I think I'll sign up for my Magic cruise next month for $119. I'll be sure to report back. The description is a bit different from the past, which I have done before. Treat your taste buds to the experience of a lifetime, culminating in a sumptuous multicourse dinner hosted by the Master Executive Chef. Your VIP experience starts with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres for a select group of 14 guests. The evening concludes with a mind-blowing full-service dinner of amazing appetizers, entrees and desserts not found on our regular dining menus. Confirmation e-mails will be sent 24 hours prior to cruise departure.
  11. Glad I double booked and had a different itinerary booked for March that I was planning to cancel to go on an April cruise out of Doha
  12. On a different cruise line, a friend was taking an unfinished glass of wine from the dining room. The server asked her not to, explaining it was hard for the restaurant to get their wine glasses back because they get returned to the bars. Instead, he poured it in a champagne glass.
  13. Greenland seems so weather dependent that I am very hesitant in booking a cruise if that's the only port I'm excited about. I have a B2B booked on another line where one of the sailings is a Grenland one. Currently there isn't much overlap between the 2 but that might change if Greenland is missed. I have a while to make up my mind though or look for trip insurance that pays well for missed ports.
  14. I love Green Teas. Jameson, Peach Schnapps, sprite, and sweet and sour mix. I like pretty much any whiskey based cocktail. I like pretty much any whiskey.
  15. The same was said during my trips to Bermuda. Also mentioned that maintenance and upkeep might be questionable.
  16. I received flight emails for all of my future cruises that have the air promo attached, well into 2025. No new information was attached, just the airports I selected when I booked. I don't know if it was glitch or if they are reminding people of the information they have in place now instead of people trying to make changes once they get real notifications and it's too late to change anything.
  17. The last time I saw Rock the Pour House, they played Come on Eileen, which is one of my favorite songs. It's the only song I can specifically remember that they played.
  18. I'm fine with the $109. It's the $214 for a cruise that's 2 days longer that has me scratching my head.
  19. no. neither is streaming. Just regular unlimited wi-fi.
  20. I have an upgrade to unlimited wi-fi offer of $109 for a 10 day cruise and $214 for a 12 day cruise. I can't seem to make sense of it.
  21. Yes, this trip with NCL flights was comparable to a 10 day NYC to Bermuda cruise for me (no flight needed for NYC)
  22. Yes! One big thing to understand is what is a "covered" delay/cancellation when it comes to your flights. I had a flight cancelled because there was no crew for it. Guess what? Not a covered reason.
  23. I wouldn't count on alcohol being readily available. My experience has been that it's hit or miss, mostly depending on how active the solo meetup is and how much effort your solo host puts into arranging things.
  24. Agreed. I like options though. But I still consider myself a light packer with just 1 carry-on sized suitcase and a large tote (usually). I keep most of my clothes in the packing cubes I packed them in. But I still take up a lot of space as a solo cruiser. I couldn't imagine sharing shelf space.
