I think it's usually a 1 category upgrade but sometimes it's a 2 category upgrade. So if you know what sailing you want to book, it doesn't hurt to book while onboard. It could be a savings of several hundred dollars.

Not the Breakaway, but when I was on the jewel on a Panama canal cruise, the MDR had a latin item on the MDR lunch menu daily. One day i ordered a chicken meal and I thought it would be some slices or a breast at the most. It was an entire half of a chicken! I was so embarrassed. lol I made a valliant effort to finish it. But the chicken won.

Sometimes the price that's displayed for the excursion already includes the $50 discount and sometimes it doesn't. That's the only difference I've noticed. Just like doing a mock booking for the cruise, I do mock bookings for the excursions. I haven't noticed an increase in my final cost for any that I am considering.

Are there any options where you can snorkle from the beach? Depending on the weather and current, the ones off the boat can be a bit tiring if the current is strong.

I don't think any NCL employee is going to release information before NCL is ready for it to be released. They can't just tell you your cruise is cancelled without having info on any follow-up action which is probably what they are figuring out. I was going to cancel a Nov cruise with a similar Caribbean portion of the itinerary but will wait to see what happens with this one. I still have a couple of weeks before final payment is due on the Nov cruise.

I don’t think it’s a glitch. No sailings show for those months and only 1 in March. I’m expecting my April cruise to be cancelled. Hope I’m wrong but will be surprised if I am.

I could be wrong but I feel like the Leonardo class ships were touted as so environmentally friendly to allow them to visit Nordic destinations that previously wouldn't allow the big ships.

It's not a hack but the promos for booking onboard vary sometimes.

Same here. The only time I received a random discount was when I had 3 or less booked.

I was on the Jewel at Maltings and the bartender would offer glasses of bar mix and glasses of dried fruit. I learned the fruit pairs very well with Macallan 🙂

There is no food menu but on Prima, there is a section of the buffet that is conveniently located right inside the Vibe entry door. There are no dining tables in Vibe. Vibe isn't really meant to be a party spot. The music from the pool deck DJ is not piped in up there. I do know some people bring a speaker to play music by their lounger. I've never heard any play it loud enough that you would hear it if you weren't in the immediate vicinity. But I don't know how acceptable/encouraged that is. But it's still fun, if you want to have fun, even without music. There tends to be a lively group of regulars that you'll see every day. So if you want to hang and socialize, there's that. But there is plenty of quiet space also if you want to relax.

prior to my 1st cruise in 2019, I stumbled across a site that showed the percentage of obstruction and it helped me choose my obstructed cabin that had views mostly between the lifeboats instead of directly at. This was on a carnival ship and I can't remember if it had other lines. I didn't bookmark it though. 😞

@latebuyer Compare the deck plans. I remember when Encore was build, the lack of free deck space was a complaint. I don't know how Epic compares, but that's something I'd look for on a Caribbean cruise.

I think Breakaway is an awesome ship for the Caribbean, mostly because it has the free Spice H2O sundeck section if you want an adult only area.

There's also the chicken salad sandwich and hot dog.

After the dinner menu ends, there is a limited late night menu that is great for putting something on your stomach after drinking all night. personally speaking 🙂

I'd say pick the earliest time you expect to make. Why pick a 9AM slot if you're planning on arriving at the port at 10:30.

I might get a lot of flak for this, but I did a Panama Canal crossing and found it just meh. I definitely appreciate the history and engineering behind it, and I truly think it's a marvel. But all I could think was I'm just watching water rise and fall. I did get a cool pic of the different water levels of the lock and the ocean beyond it though.

My experience has been that I was unable to pay to upgrade from a sailaway rate cabin. I needed to cancel and rebook at the current rate.

I was able to add a Vibe pass to my reservation for my Nov 2024 Viva sailing via Chat this morning. $319 for a 16 day sailing.
