  1. Don’t ever go to Spain and try to eat in a good restaurant, first evening seating is 9:30+
  2. Just ask them not to deliver the daily news.
  3. We still like to read the paper version before going to bed, so would prefer to keep them, maybe as an optional choice. On port days the insert not only includes tour times but also prints the port agent and ships contact details and is useful to take with you when on tour or on shore on your own.
  4. I just download them to my iPad
  5. My bad, I had forgotten that she had both titles and thought that some, unknown person was the President. You may have forgotten that StarLink was promised for the Shadow and the WC, and it’s not been delivered.
  6. My question is why is RC treating the SS World Cruisers so badly with the Starlink Installation failure.
  7. So where is the much adored BM in all this, and who on earth is the President of SS?
  8. We will never tip, the crew welfare fund does do more than @Observerbelieves, and any contribution is appreciated by most of the crew, especially those who you do not see.
  9. No. There may be supply issues and minor staffing issues, but that’s it at the moment.
  10. You will be a newbie on the first leg only, so will be a full Venetian for voyages 2 and 3. There are no guidelines for the crew fund, just put in what you feel comfortable with. Generally the ship will be decorated for Easter and all main holidays. When you board seek out the cruise director and discuss Anzac Day, you may have to organise something yourself but the CD should be able to help.
  11. That almost always true, except when joining the Moon in Barcelona last October we had to produce them!
  12. You can download them from the SS website and MySilversea
  13. We stayed at Qualia a few years back and found it to be one of the best resorts we have been. Not a huge amount to do on the Island though. Haven’t been to Lizard. The Park Hyatt is still the hotel in Sydney, by the bridge and close to Circular Key, ferries etc, but it can be a bit public. If you want small boutique luxury look at Spicers Potts Point.
  14. I’d like to know when they are going to fix the air department, the land based consultants lack of response and engagement and the onboard staffing, service and supply issues that are still endemic on SS post pandemic.
  15. Everything plus all that stated above. We also prefer the more formal nature and European outlook of the line. There is and has been a more cosmopolitan mix of guests on SS than that found on the more American oriented lines. Bear in mind this is a personal opinion.
  16. With regard to the original question as posed on this board, the answer is still no.
  17. Not a hope in hell. That’s insufficient for a transfer in the same terminal at Heathrow!
  18. We were on the 22WC and didn’t know we needed a visa until joining the ship in Cape Town. After a lot of to and fro between the ships finance officer, SS Head Office and the port agent in Jeddah, it was determined that we would be ok with a transit visa. It was a bit of a slow process, requiring 4 individual Credit Card payments and took about an hour to process two of us. Hope that helps.
  19. The OP didn’t mention Antarctica.
  20. You should be aware that there is nothing for a 5 year old to do on a Silversea ship, there are no specialist staff or facilities. SS also attracts an older generation of clients who generally travel on up market cruise ships without children.
  21. Isnt Norman onboard to fix issues like that? 😎
  22. He is definitely a myth and also definitely not Mythsty.
