  1. We do both. Have found that wonderful all inclusive are more cost effective. We love the Resorts in playa Mujeres Cancun. The ships aren't really all inclusive. You pay additional for drinks, specialty restaurants, and ship tours etc. The AI resorts that I have gone to include airport transfers, drinks, tips, specialty restaurants. Only spa services and if you want extra tipping aren't included. Sometimes kids like the idea of a beach vacation with pool access. Drink package prices vary, can cost as much a $80 plus pp. per day. Plus when we cruise, we fly in the day before and the hotel rate has to be added to the cost of the cruise. Also, unless you are in suite, the cabin typically vs. the hotel room is much smaller. Like the variey. Love the entertainment on the cruise ships and visiting various ports.
  2. We were their last august, and will sail again this august on her. Not sure if they sing as you enter the buffet area. But you are directed to wash your hands.
  3. Don't they have a smoothy bar in the spa waiting area? For a fee of course. I thought you could order the smoothy your way.
  4. My grandsons understand that sometimes one must compromise and adhere to the rules. Fortunately, one is studying at an IVY school to be a vet, and the other works in a field to save our environment. As their parents, they will be very successful professionals.
  5. Yes. People are paying these high prices, so the move up bids that are available are very high. I also booked the silhouette for January months ago and the price has gone up 20% for our sky suite. Perhaps if you book inside cabins, you still get a "reasonable" rate.
  6. I agree that often a review is posted by a person with an axe to grind. So many (most) people have a wonderful time and aren't interested in posting their opinion. You must try for yourself and form your own opinion. We have sailed on almost 60 cruises including all of the major lines and in our opinion, Celebrity, especially the edge and solstice class are great. The celebrity older ships also are really a good option. Sailed many royal ships and our favorite all around is the oasis class (so far). Carnival , NCL and Princess at the bottom of our lists, food, entertainment and ship on those not for us. NCL IMO only the Haven good- but if you leave it not good.
  7. Hello, We really enjoy RC Oasis class ships. The entertainment and food IMO is great. MSC not the same. If you travel and you really care about Pizza, go to New York for the best pizza in the country. All around, we always enjoy RC. Another option for us is Celebrity. Not a fan of MSC.
  8. We often give extra tips to wait staff and cabin staff. Cash is the best as they do not have to share with the entire pool.
  9. The ship, service and crowd are excellent. Plenty to do or you can sit by the pool and enjoy the band and a drink. Perhaps if you go holiday weeks very crowded, but you can always find a quiet spot to chill. We were on her last August, and will be on her again this August. Love the service and the crowd. Yes during sea days, you might find some favorite spots busy, but move to another. So much for teens and kids to do also. Enjoy your cruise.
  10. The beach club is upscale waiter dining and very plush comfortable seating. The crowd is limited making it really enjoyable. However with ten people, perhaps you might consider an over the water cabana. You get excellent food and service and the cabanas are very comfortable. If you bring young kids, they might enjoy the water park- If you do not want to pay additional, the free food all around is also very good and the beach and seating fine. A wonderful day. Hope the weather is great for you.
  11. We only felt unsafe in Jamaica. Will never get off a ship at that island. We enjoy nassau, interesting shopping and beaches. You can purchase passes to other beaches not affiliated with ship. We found the Atlantis to be expensive and the beach wasn't nice. We no longer go their.
  12. Usually, depending upon the sailing, they have a "special" how many items you can squeeze into their laundry bag for a flat fee. Typically once per sailing- midway but could be more. I bring enough cloths regardless of laundry and tend to have them launder underwear, pj's and tee shirts that I don't care about. Never give them good clothes. They do offer dry cleaning services, which is good, but not cheap. We hand wash swim suits.
  13. Yes, but as previously said- if you have thick hair- best to bring your own.
  14. We never had a problem, but we dine early typically by 6:00. Sometimes we might move a restaurant to another day but we are flexible. As said previously, go to a kiosk or specialty restaurant to make your reservations as soon as you board. Enjoy
  15. We prefer the porthole veranda to the infinite veranda. Same cabin with a small balcony. The advantage of this over an infinite veranda is that the captain cannot close your window and the price is great. It is basically the same cabin. Enjoy
  16. We got an accessible sky on summit. Found the bathroom sink and storage great for a wheel chair, but not for those who don’t use one. Also our shower made a mess of the bathroom floor. This was precovid so perhaps these issues have been adjusted
  17. IMO the sky suite perks, such as the restaurant and lounge, etc well worth it. If these things aren't important, take what you can comfortably afford and want to spend.
  18. Unfortunately when I was on the Adventure, daily a "qualified" employee attempted to fix the machine- but it never worked. Broke down daily. Royal needs to replace the machines. It isn't cost effective to have daily employees (multiple) spending so much time to repair a machine that really cannot be repaired. It was like putting a bandaid on a broken leg. Doesn't work. The machines could be 10-15 years old. Not to mention the guest getting annoyed.
  19. Sometimes the minimum bid goes down. However, I would suggest that you consider just moving to a guarantee balcony. Might actually be more cost effective depending upon the sailing. Good luck.
  20. My DH doesn't eat seafood and we always tell the waiter and never have a problem. Enjoy A fun experience!
  21. I tthink that Celebrity will continue on its endeavor of huge profits. They will encourage all to book specialty restaurants. I would guess in a few more years to continue this upward trend, non suite passengers will have buffet dining only, and specialty restaurants rates will continue to climb. Suite fares will also continue to climb. Since the pandemic has ended, so many people are cruising and will continue to cruise regardless of the revised menus, and it appears the cost of the cruise. We love cruising, but now are mixing with top of the line all inclusive resorts which actually are cheaper.
  22. For lunch the Lawn club grill. Dinner at Murano's as it is very elegant and special. Nice for a special celebration.
  23. But you are paying about $20 more lunch v. dinner. So at dinner you have much different options- lamb chops and steak for example. You can get "free" burgers at the grill. Of course not the same, but for me ok.
