We were in Labadee in August. We used to enjoy it. Found it full of sand fleas- bring bug spray. The (suite) lunch also had many insects flying about. We really enjoyed coco Cay and will try to pick cruises that stop their instead of labadee. Or no longer get off the ship in labadee. Too bad as the beach is nice.

We once had an aft sky suite- couldn't use the balcony. All day direct hot sun and soot. Tried putting my swim suits out to dry on the chair- big mistake! Got full of soot. But again, why do you need a big balcony? Need room for a table and a couple of lounge chairs.

Summit Boston-Canada 9/11-9/21 Notes From Onboard
Cruise a holic replied to 5:00_Somewhere's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We recently sailed on the Oasis of the Seas. We were worried about contracting covid. I wore my mask in crowded public venues and tried to stay away from any crowds. People jammed into elevators, perhaps not aware that we are still in a pandemic. Fortunately my DH and I didn't get covid, but I heard that many people did. Our next cruise is in December. I will bring a mask. We both got our new booster, but will continue to avoid elevators and crowds on our upcoming Apex cruise. -
We aren't balcony people at all. First, my DH has had skin CA so he isn't allowed in direct sun. Second- we much prefer the suite inside to be great. We had the Royal suite on our last Equinox cruise- loved it. Never used the hot tub on the balcony. We love the Edge class suite deck and luminae. That to us means so much more then a balcony. Unless you have many people in your suite, why is a "big balcony" important? PS. best to avoid direct sunlight!

Wait times for seating at Blu, is this normal?

We no longer dine in blu or take aqua class. Last time on a S class ship, they had a long line for blu. It is first come first serve. If you are on line very early, you get seated. If not, you wait or come back after 7:30 when it opens up. We save our money book balcony cabins and dine when we like in Specialty restaurants. The unlimited dining package works out best for us as we don't use the other aqua options like the persian garden. Sometimes, if the price is good we might book cc for the extra points and small perks. Lately we have been in suite class. -
I already booked my spa appointments for Dec/January. I want the day and times I like so booking the earlier the better.

We tip for each drink and leave money tip in all of the restaurants after a meal- except the buffet. We typically do not tip the luminae staff, except for the waiter. We give an extra tip also to our cabin attendant, butler and Suite lounge people.

We love Mr. Sanchos and everybody we recommend it to loves it. You have so much to do at the club. Great fun foods nice variety (and waiter service or self service), drinks and excellent service. Even some entertainment. For additional fee's so many water "toys" motor and non motorized available. Interesting shopping. A spa is also available. The beach is beautiful as are the pools. My only negative comment is that they allow smoking. If they continue to allow, should have a special area for those who smoke as even outside the smoke travels. Not interested in a dolphin swim and never went to Cankanaab.

great! Sometimes you can find a bargain- but we all have different definations of a bargain. We stay in a sky suite and love all of the amenities including the suite. We also had friends in a aft true balcony cabin and they loved it. The concept of multiple main dining rooms is wonderful- like a specialty restaurant everyday, if you have a regular stateroom and anytime dining. The theatre is great. A good use of technology. We enjoyed the seating around the ship and the regular pool and pool deck are great. But of course not for everyone. The only problem we had on the edge vs. the apex is that the sky suites had a silly rocking chair that took up a load of room and was not necessary. Has been removed and replaced by a coffee table. Also the suite lounge on the apex has been greatly improved as has the suite sun deck. Great sp restaurants and the grill is so much better on the Edge class ships. IMO. However we love the S class ships, especially the Silhoutte and Reflection. And the Summit is also great for a restful cruise.

Agree about the pricey shops, but I am not a fan of the $5.00 tee shirts and flee market shops. You can shop at the ports for those types of items- tiffany, Bulgari etc., on the Edge class now. We recently sailed on the Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas and they sell second hand merchandise and watches. Times changing.

Allure OTS - relaxed dress code expectations...
Cruise a holic replied to bgoff60's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Most, not all people still dress. Not necessarily a tux and gown, but more cocktail, party attire. Some people wear the same (smelly) clothes most of the week- just bring comfortable, clean clothes- We enjoy dressing up. Helps celebrate the fact that we can cruise. -
Recommendation for RCL ship for Celebrity Fans
Cruise a holic replied to Maggie4nc's topic in Royal Caribbean International
This past may, we were on the Adventure of the Seas. The ship was really a mess. Rusty- plumbing not working in our bathroom, we had service a few times during our cruise to fix it. Furniture old and dingy- crowded ship- subpar entertainment- suite lounge coffee machine broken most days. Buffet like a school cafeteria I do not know why people like these older ships? Perhaps it reminds them of good times years before- but now, things have changed. -
Recommendation for RCL ship for Celebrity Fans

Without a doubt any Oasis class ship. Our favorite. Having sailed on many different classes, Oasis the winner. -
We truly enjoy the retreat lounge on all celebrity ships. My DH also has limited food options and we never had a problem. Service is excellent in all ship departments. We love the Martini bar and spend much time at it! We find butlers vary. We also don't ask for much, but enjoy breakfast on our balcony a few times during the cruise. He/she can make sure you have your laundry done and returned , shoes shined if necessary, clothes pressed for chic nights and if you host company, snacks and canapés for your guests. We like to pack ourselves. They also seat you on chic nights in the theatre if you desire. The suite is bigger and you will love the extra room and storage. We cannot go back to a regular balcony cabin. Enjoy your cruise.

Glad you are back. We sailed on the equinox a few months ago. Ship is wonderful. Service excellent. We sailed in a suite, so my experience dining is limited to the specialty and Lumanie. Suite restaurants are excellent as is the retreat lounge. The rest of the ship was also great. Welcome back! Enjoy your cruise.

Clearly you had a better butler then we did! We got placemats. We were in an expensive suite, surely we should have had a table cloth.

On our last Reflection cruise in March, no more table clothes used- we were in a Royal suite.
