  1. I may or may not have been the cause of a few hundred dollars in towel charges on some chair hog accounts by snatching them and using them myself after a couple hours in an empty chair. I personally would never stoop to such a thing..."friends" have told me all about it though.
  2. Beat me to it. Reading all these "what in the world are they thinking" posts, the answer I kept coming up with was "who cares?".
  3. Figure out what the GS would be worth to YOU. $700pp? $1000pp? $1200pp? Bid that. Then, win or lose, your cruise price has been worth it TO YOU. If you bid $300pp and win, and then find out on the cruise the people in the GS down the hall won with a bid of $160pp, who cares? A lot of people on the same cruise are paying different amounts for the same category cabin anyway. Don't worry about trying to beat anyone else when no one knows the first thing about any algorithm other than it's calculated to make Royal the most money it can.
  4. Coming next.... "We've heard you! Beginning immediately, all beverage packages will have an 8th day added to allow all our guests to enjoy their included beverages the morning they disembark, beginning at midnight. We'll simply add the charge for the 8th day to all onboard accounts for existing packages and any new packages bought will have the 8th day charge added as well. Thank you for your input!"
  5. The towel check-out procedure on Royal works very well, if by "check-out" you mean grabbing towels that have been left by chair hogs around the pool for hours on end.
  6. For someone who has been around since 2008, you sure don't know the CC folks 😉🤣🤷‍♂️
  7. I think if it was just you and your husband, coin flip. With a 12 yr old? Wonder, easily.
  8. Funny thing is that OP's simple question was answered in the FIRST REPLY. And yet here we are....
  9. Yes, as @DCPIV said, before pre-paid gratuities, tips were paid by hand, cash in envelope, on the last night of the cruise. It was very easy for folks to just not show up for dinner the last night.
  10. Ah yes, I remember those good 'ol days all cash tipping...and the MDR on the last night of the cruise, half empty because people didn't want to face the waitstaff they were stiffing.
  11. Call it "ridiculous". Call it "not worth it". Supply and demand. Fact is, as long as it's worth it to people other than you, they'll charge whatever they can get.
  12. No biggie, I'm sure your wife will enjoy the WJ. 😉 j/k hasn't happened to me, but I have heard a couple reports of the dining package showing up as sold out. No follow up though.
  13. So people will dress up and buy pictures. That's about it.
  14. CC tip #12: Anytime a thread on tipping or dress codes begins with any variation of "I don't want this to turn into a heated discussion", silently chuckle to yourself with a "you must be new here".
  15. Had a mild case in early August. First positive test was a Monday morning after some slight sniffles and scratchy throat started Sunday night. Positive each day through Friday then Saturday was testing negative.
  16. Food is subjective...I suppose there's always going to be someone who thinks Domino's is better than Patsy's.
  17. Sounds like it's going to be a miserable cruise for you. You should definitely cancel, wait for the NCL Bliss to announce the same itinerary, and then jump on it. I'm sure you won't be waiting long.
  18. My mom, brother, and I did this with our Dad's ashes on Explorer during an Alaska cruise in 2018. The Royal folks were amazing and extremely considerate the entire time. They took us down through some employee-only areas and onto one of the platforms near the aft. No official "ceremony", but they allowed us to be there for as long as we needed and later on during the cruise we received a certificate from the captain with the coordinates where we dropped the ashes. We used a biodegradable urn like this https://perfectmemorials.com/loving-leaves-ecourn-biodegradable-cremation-urn-large-p-17238.html Sorry for your loss.
  19. I would imagine if you don't want to wake up to a pitch black room, bringing your own sunrise alarm clock would start your day off a little better. Nothing wrong with that if your phone alarm alone doesn't cut it.
  20. The black building was the tallest building in Seattle while I was growing up, the Seafirst Bank Building. Nicknamed "The Box the Space Needle Came In".
  21. We were just in Rome in June and there are pharmacies all over the place that will do Covid testing with results within hours. It should be very easy to find something close to your apartment...no need to freak out, you'll be fine.
  22. Has anyone volunteered yet to be the lucky CC poster with the honor of starting tomorrow’s “Royal needs to change their vaccine/testing policies” thread?
