  1. Looking again at the Escape's Haven deck plans, I think that everything is located forward. Some of the newer ships since The Escape, do have "Haven cabins" in the aft area. I believe that on the newest ship The Prima, all of the Haven complex is located aft.
  2. Just check NCL's website for deck plans for The Escape: YES there is a "true" Haven on Decks 17 and 18
  3. I never ever waste space bringing special clothes for any of the dance parties. There is NO need to bring any special for any of the parties. The dance parties usually begin about 10:00 P.M. and are very loud.
  4. The Port Valet service in Seattle is a program run by the Port of Seattle not NCL.
  5. Do you by any chance know who the current Head Mixologists are? Looks like you are having a wonderful time. The last time I was in Barbados there a tour out to the Concorde Museum. Is it still offered?
  6. Did the Getways's 1st Atlantic Crossing in January 2014 (Southampton, U.K. to New York City). Had one backpack and one 24" inch suitcase. Took jeans, a couple of black slacks, one long dress, one dress I would wear to chruch, sweaters, two pairs of flats, underwear, nightwear. Sent things out at mid cruise (Fill The Bag Promotion). Relax and enjoy
  7. Have a wonderful cruise. Would love to be able to make this cruise.
  8. (1) You can change dinner reservations at the Restaurant Reservations Desk next tothe Guest Services Desk--Deck 6 in the lobby. (2) If you go to either Taste or Savior (across the hall from each other) when they open at about 5:30 P.M.-- you should be able to be seated quickly. You also try the Local (on Deck 7 just above the lobby). Reservations are not required for Taste, Savor or The Local. Enjoy your cruise and time with your family.
  9. As a solo passenger on The Jewel a number of times, I just show up when a restaurant opens and can usually be seated within a few minutes. To answer your question the Resturant Resevations Desk is in the lobby on Deck 7 sharing a very large space with Guest Services. Enjoy The Jewel is a wonderful ship with a great staff.
  10. If you go to the NCL webpage under Explore: Ships-Spirit:Deck Plans, on Deck 13 at the back of the ship, you will find a Sports Deck with a basketball court and a netted area to hit golf balls. What they will have for kids available for an Alaskan cruise may vary from to week to week. They should be able to go anywhere on the ship minus the casino and H2O. Enjoy your cruise and The Spirit.
  11. I have been on 38 NCL cruises all solo. I ALWAYS book through my hometown travel agency. Sometimes I can get really good rates because of the they belong to a much large travel trade group. Find someone locally who is a Certified Travel Consulant and have them walk you through the process. I never never book ANY travel adventure without going through my local travel agency. I never never bid for a better cabin- I make my selection as to cabin type, location and stay with it. Check to see if the Pride still has a few studio cabins. She has in the past but with all the recent drydocks, I do not know if they are still there or not. The Pride is (was) the only small ship to have Studio cabins. Other than Studios, cabins base price is per person double occupancy even if you are going solo. Added to the base price are government taxesand port fees. Then you have all the optional added fees-- taxes on meal and drink packages, prepaid daily service charges, insurance, airfare, transfers and hotel packages. Welcome to the world of Norwegian cruising. Word of warning-- cruising can and does for many people become addictive.
  12. I live in the Pacific Northwest and always fly to East Coast a day early for the cruise. Usually I purchase a package from Norwegian that includes the cruise, precruise and sometimes post cruise hotel(s) and the transfer to and from the ship. Less worry for this widow.
  13. Not sure what the time difference would be, guessing I would say the game will start about 8:30 P.M. your time. The Freestyle Daily delivered to your cabin the night before will tell you where on the ship the parties will be and what time. Go Green Bay Packers
  14. On the day you travel through the Canal, you will want to wander all over the ship. Depending on the Captain of your particular cruise, he might open the bow area for passengers ( which is normally an area for crew only). Enjoy
  15. Not positive, but I think the doors open outward on all of the "Away" ships.
  16. Not at the moment. There is a discussion of them coming back at some point. I would doubt that they will include either the Engine Room or The Bridge. They have do a presentation during the cruise that is a slide show of the various "behind the scenes" areas of the ship.
  17. I have been on two Getaway Christmas cruises and loved every minute of them. Just booked another Christmas cruise. I never had problem anywhere on the ship-- meals, shows etc. Very very crowded with lots of multi-generational families. I am a widow and over 70-- still had a great time. Countdown is on for Christmas 2023.
  18. Probably the Coast Guard picking up some refugees that the Carnival ship had rescued. A Carnival ship and another cruise ship have rescued refugees this week.
  19. Restaurant Reservations Desk next to the Guest Services Desk in the lobby of the ship.
  20. The Sun is a wonderful small ship. Love the back deck of the buffet, wonderful place for early morning coffee and beautiful sunrises. I beleive the Sun is the only ship to have a balcony area across the front of the ship of the Observation lounge. Great place to watch "pier runners" (people who are late returning to the ship after an excursion, shopping etc.) You are supposed to be back on board 30 minutes before the posted departure ship. You will get a daily newsletter telling you what time you will be arriving in a port and the time that you need to be back on board. Enjoy your enjoy. After your first cruise, like so many of us, you will become addicted to cruising and can not wait to get back onboard a NCL ship. Welcome to the family.
  21. I use a travel agency in my hometown. Much more helpful than a PCC especially if something goes wrong.
  22. According to all the Freestyle Dailies that have been posted recently, YES NFL games are being shown. Go Chiefs
  23. When you can could you please both a list of the current Officers both the Hotel staff and the Bridge staff. Enjoy your cruise
  24. Should be 2 Laundry Days one for each 7 day period. Not sure of the price but about $30 for each full bag.
