  1. I am glad you are having a wonderful time. In a few weeks Steven will be home to help Mom shovel snow and cheer on the Packers.
  2. I was on a Super Bowl cruise many years ago on the Gem. They had the game on in the atrium, with a hot dog stand. You could get your face painted. Depending on what network is broadcasting the game, you might be able to see it on the tv in your cabin. I would think that what happens on your particular cruise may depend on that ship's General Manager, Cruise Director and the Food and Beverage Director.
  3. I have been to Alaska many times on The Jewel almost always with Steven as GM.
  4. Merry Christmas Have a wondeerful cruise. I plan to sail for Her journey North to Alaska and Vancouver.
  5. According to the NCL website (Explore-Cruise Ship- Escape- View Ship- What's On Board), the main dining rooms (Taste, Savor) are on Deck 6 across from each other. It does say that connected to Taste there is a small private dining room. It does not give any more information than that. I am assuming that it could hold large family gatherings, convention dinners or something like that).
  6. Love your attitude. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
  7. Show your husband YVR's thread about her adventure yesterday about flying from Vancouver, British Columbia to San Diego, Caifornia from a cruise on the Jewel on Saturday.
  8. Sometimes People will cancel a cruise just before their final payment date or traveel agents or big box cruise people release cabins.
  9. I pray that you have very safe travels. Hopefully you are doing a non-stop. Sea-Tac is being reported as a nightmare for the last few days especially with Alaskan flights. Enjoy
  10. Buying a service in the Spa DOES NOT give you Thermal Spa access. Usually on the day you board, there is a free tour of the Spa. You might ak if they have a Day Thermal Spa Pass available on your cruise.
  11. Shows are at 7:00 (sometimes 7:30) and 9:00. The Local and the Buffet have Prime Rib nights. Lobster is served in La Bistro and Cagney's. Enjoy your cruise
  12. Can not wait to hear about your adventure. My favorite General Manager will be onboard-- Steven Jacobsen. Enjoy Merry Christmas and Happy Year
  13. The article says recreational boats over 35 feet in length.
  14. I just checked the Norwegian's website, it says the Breakaway was refurbished in 2020, so if the 5 year schedule holds, She would not be due for another drydock until 2025.
  15. The annoucement I saw this morning said a 9% reduction of workforce--shoreside. Did not say anything about on ship personnel.
  16. Bow is open usually in one of the glaciers in Alaska (Glacier Bay in particular) and the day of the Panama Canal passage. The rest of the time it is a crew only area.
  17. My two favorite shows are Million Dollar Quartet and Burn The Floor. My two favorite restaurants are Ocen Blue and Cagney's for dinner. I usually eat breakfast at the Local. If you are a sun person, check out Spice H2O-- free sun deck at the rear of the ship on Deck 16. Most importantly relax and enjoy.
  18. About half way through your 1st cruise, you will receive a letter from Guest Services explaining the process for a back to back. The letter will give you a meeting place and then you will be led of the ship for a few moments and led back on before the embarkation process begins. You will be issued a new room key, your account will be closed and a new one established, It is really pretty easy. Enjoy
  19. If you want a fairly recent example of passenger and crew pandemonium not knowing what to do in case of an emergency- look at what happened on the Costa Concoria in January 2012. Passengers and crew did not know where the Muster Stations among other issues. People lost their lives that night and the Captain is finally serving a jail sentence. Muster Drills in whatever form are extremely important.
  20. The latest you can leave the ship will be between 9:00 and 9:30 A.M. Is it possibble to get a day room at the Crown Plaza? Relax, use the pool. I would not reccomend touring the USS Iowa with a small child. Lots of walking and stairs to climb.
