Regal Princess 10-26 to 11-5

We just returned from the Regal Princess sailing from Brooklyn to Ft Lauderdale with stops in Antigua, St Kitts and Bonaire. It was our 31st cruise but only our 6th with Princess which put us in Platinum status. Being Platinum did have a few perks that made a big difference. Embarkation was very easy as we waited in the Elite, Suite and Platinum lounge for the first time and were among the first to board the ship. We were on the ship by 11:30 and sitting at Alfredo's at 11:40. We had the sip and sail package so that really made it nice.

A great thing about Princess compared to Celebrity was our room was ready as soon as we boarded the ship. The ship was absolutely beautiful ! Our stateroom was A502 category BB right near the mid stairs and elevators. Great location. The balcony stateroom was smaller then the Emerald and Ruby (our last two Princess cruises) but it was perfectly fine for the two of us.

We had anytime dining in the Symphony Dining room. The first 3 nights the service was ok. At breakfast the Head Waiter was asking us how the food and service was. We said it was fine. He said to come to his side of the Symphony Dining room and ask for him when we came for dinner. He put us at a nice table for two at table 83. WOW! The service was as good as we've ever had on any cruise. We ate at that table the remaining seven nights. The food was outstanding in the Symphony Dining room!!!

The MUTS pool and the Retreat pool were really nice and the bar service at both pools were top notch. Even though there was a lot of the seat saving there were still seats available the next deck up around the pool. The pizza by the pool (Prego Pizzeria) was as I remembered from our past Princess cruises. Awesome!!! Princess has the best pizza at sea!

We went to Vines everyday before dinner and the service was amazing! The nice thing about Vines on this ship was you could get just about any drink you wanted, not just wine. Speaking of Wine, the selection blew Celebrity out of the water. Way better!!! The fitness center was a lot smaller than most ships we've been on but we went from 2 to 3pm everyday and it wasn't as crowded.

One thing that Princess needs to improve is the Future cruise sales office. This poor guy was in a one desk room and totally swamped. We put our form in for a future booking and because he was so backed up told us we would get the confirmation via e-mail when we got home. Which we did. Celebrity has a large room with many future cruise consultants.

All in all it was an amazing cruise! Well done Princess. Can't wait to go again.

Thanks for the review. We will be on the Nov 26th cruise.

Did you make reservations for dinner each day or just walk up?

We walked up the first three days. The last seven we locked in table 83 for two. Dinner for anytime dining started at 5pm which worked for us, so we arrived at 5-5:15 everyday.

Wow GREAT LOOKING grandchildren you must be very PROUD of them!! They look so well-dressed.

Tony

Thank you Tony

They were dressed up for the first formal night

Our little two and a half year old little princess is still in a crib at home. Sleeping in a bed for the first time she rolled out of bed during the night landing on soft pillows placed on the floor. She didn't wake up and slept the rest of the night on the floor.

Going on the Regal in January; what was the entertainment in the main room like?

You mean in the theater?

Our little redheaded granddaughter and all of us enjoyed the shows

You need to get there early if you expect to get a seat

Not sure about the guy sitting next to her?

We were on the cruise.

Not to many children but I remember seeing that red hair! :D

LOL Many of the onboard staff knew her by name with that bright red hair.

Everyone in her pre- school knows her

She is also quite funny

She sat on the beach and in the water in Antigua. She developed a rash on her butt from some kind of organism.

A few days ago when I stopped by her house she immediately bent over, pulled down her pants and said "grandpa do you want to see my rash."

All three grandchildren loved the cruise and are looking forward to the next one

Did you have an issue with your TV. Some people gat a $150 ROBC. We haven't received our yet.

We did lose the service on our TV all day Thursday and up till 3pm Friday. We heard others saying they lost TV from late Wednesday until Saturday. We received 100 per person OBR and should be receiving our check 4-6 weeks after the cruise. We were in a regular balcony stateroom (not a deluxe balcony stateroom). I'm guessing those in a mini suite or regular suite probably got more since they paid more for their staterooms or suites. That's the only thing that went wrong on the cruise and it didn't affect our great time and wonderful cruise!

We also received 100 OBC per person. We ran it through the casino to receive cash so we did not have to wait for a check. It was a great cruise.

I've heard from princess representive whom I know well it only affects certain areas.

They know which cabins had a problem. Some people got as low as $50. We never bothered since we never turned on the TV.
