Is Costa Maya a tender port?

Please help me here. I can't find an answer searching the boards. Do you tender into Costa Maya?

They welded plate to it at the port and delayed the return by two days. Passengers were given the option to fly home or extend their vacations.

No, they're waiting for a major hurricane to hit, after that it will be a tender port. :cool::p

A major hurricane did hit and destroyed the pier. The pier was rebuilt.

It's a really long pier.

Hopefully, your luck will be better than ours. Both times we were scheduled to stop in Costa Maya the weather was too choppy and we couldn't port. Ended up w/ an extra sea day both cruises. Such is life.

The one time I was there, we weren't able to leave until the next morning because the wind was pushing the ship against the pier and they couldn't push away. They had to wait for the wind to die down.

 

So it's not technically a tender port but ships aren't always able to dock there (or leave).

It sure looks it. I suppose if you arrive back at the port from an excursion 15 minutes before the ship sets sail, you still might not make it. :)

We were scheduled to be in Costa Maya this past February. Had to skip as it was not safe to dock. You could see the waves crashing over the pier.

I know it's 10 months away, but we're already booked for Maya Chan for our April cruise. Heard good thing about it. Can't wait.
