Carnival magic......do they have any activities for 18 year olds?

I can't speak specifically to the Magic, but all the other Carnival ships we been on have had on the first or second night a 18-20 meet-n-greet. According to my son sometimes very well attended, other times not so much.

On board at 18 other than the Serenity area and for the purchase of alcohol, young adults have access to all the adult areas and activities. They can gamble, attend the adult comedy show and quest, make purchases at the art auction, and get on or off the ship on their own. In many ports at 18 they will be able to purchase and consume alcohol.

Our cruise last month was the first time we’ve had anybody in that age range. It was on the Magic and I did not see anything fir that age anytime. I remember reading a couple of years ago that Carnival tested it for a while but thought they had stopped because it wasn’t well attended.

Because they are adults. Seriously, the only reason they have structured activities for CHILDREN is to occupy them so their parents are free to spend $ on booze and gambling. 18-20yo don't need baby sitters. And since they don't spend money on alchahol, i dont think the cruise line really cares what they do.

We are leaving on carnival magic August 4. My daughter turns 18 that day. Is there any meet and greets for that age on this ship?

1. Pool Deck

2. Casino

3. Dance club

4. Pizza place

5. Hamburger place

6. Shuffle board

7. sports deck

Oh wait, I just listed all the places adults can meet and greet. Guess they are adults also.

Our last cruise, this past Nov, our boys were 16 and 18. Our 18 year old is a social butterfly and went to karaoke and all of the trivia all week. We were off the ship in the Bahamas and another passenger stopped him to tell him he did great singing the night b4.

Our other son, is 16 and is introverted, it was our first cruise where they were not in the club together. He didn't have as much fun, as its hard for him to talk to people he doesn't know.

If your daughter is a people person and enjoys spending time with you, she will have fun.

My daughters that age usually just go with us to the trivia, karaoke, shows, etc. There were lots of people their age at those activities. One daughter is shy and didn’t talk to anyone. The other is not so she made a couple friends and they ended up hanging at the pool different times.

Yah we just got off week long legend and there was no 18-20 meet and greets - I remember a few years ago they had them ... I wish they still did because the cruise we are potentially planning for my daughters graduation she will be 18 ... We are waiting to see if her friends mom will let her go with us if we pay for her - It's only a few hundred dollars more and gives her someone to hang with

There's a simple reason Carnival doesn't do anything specific. Anything they've tried just hasn't been well attended. While people on this forum always make it seem that would not be the case, the reality has been Carnival has tried, but when no one shows up.....

Once my kids turned 18, they just did whatever they wanted and met other people. A lot of it depends on the age of the passengers. If it’s a cruise in the middle of January, may not be many young people.

Cruise critic won’t like me saying this, but join a FB group for your cruise and see if there are other younger adults going. And cruise critic, make your roll call better and maybe people wouldn’t need FB for a roll call. Just sayin.

My son has not enjoyed cruising as much since aging out of camp. This 18-21 is really an in between group and rather than have meet ups, they would be better served by their own space. They really aren’t adults in any way except legally - and they aren’t old enough to drink. Many this age are in college and used to the structure that school provides.

Luckily, my younger son does spend time with his brother and given that our trips are usually after winter exams or spring mid terms, he is happy to simply have time to relax and decompress. He spends port days with us, has dinner with us each night and will often go to a show - he especially likes comedy.

But all in all it is a different cruise from when he was in camp. He still enjoys them but it is different.

My son will be 18 and still in HS on our February cruise. One of his favorite things about cruising is meeting kids to hang out with at the teen club. I'm hoping he'll find people to hang out with, It's during President's week when a lot of north east schools are on break. I'm hoping there will be other bored 18 yo HS students.
