Yeah, definitely agree, clean away! just bummed that it seems that Noro is still an issue

Norovirus is extremely common and the most common viral cause of GI issues in humans. It will always be an issue when thousands of people are touching all sorts of surfaces on a daily basis. It’s fairly easy to not contract, just don’t put your hands to your face if they haven’t been washed just before and you’ll almost assuredly be fine.

Noro has been an issue on the last 3 sailings, I'd let them clean as much as they need to and hopefully they can get rid of it.

I am obsessive at washing my hands I even washed before AND after serving myself in the buffet, didn't use hand railings, used sanitizer in the shops and always washed my hands first thing when I returned to my cabin. I still got sick...once we were home though.

Got that email too and was bummed but guess better safe than sorry. Now to download a book for all that terminal time.

Of course, the cleaning is not really the only answer since the crew are Noro carrying machines....

Have a great trip.

On one cruise I didn't want to use the hand rails too and then fell & twisted my ankle really bad, not fun having a swollen black & blue ankle. I haven't been sick yet, hopefully won't.

The crew is constantly cleaning everywhere. We have seen our cabin with wet walls and furniture from being wiped with disinfectant. We have seen the railings and walls in our cabin corridor soaking wet from disinfectant. We have seen our cabin steward cleaning in hazmat suit when he had to enter a cabin where people were quarantined.

They are trying.

This issue has been posted for the past 3 cruises!! Each time I see comments stating that this is not big deal - it is part of cruising, expected when you have so many people in one place. SO WHY WOULD ANYONE GO ON A CRUISE?? Clearly these comments are from employees or idiots compensated by the cruise companies. Please clean the ship all day long. I'm happy to miss a day or 7 if you can guarantee we won't get the stomach bug!

Seriously?? "hopefully they can get rid of it"?? have you paid to go on a vacation on this puke infested ship in 2 days?? I have - and I'm a bit more "hopeful" than you appear to be.

Because it is no big deal. Roughly 10% of the US population will be afflicted by Norovirus each year. It's also more common in winter. Norovirus is brought ON to the ships FROM land. Once on the ship, it can be difficult to eradicate because it is easily transmitted and it can take 12-48 hours from the time of infection before you see signs of the illness - so a crew member could have contracted the disease, they clean the ship, and the crew member then spreads it along during the next couple of days to the new passengers. Or someone could have contracted it at work, unknowingly brought it on board, and started round 2 of Noro on the ship.

This isn't restricted to cruise ships. Hotels, casinos, theme parks, restaurants, and basically any other place where lots of people are passing through a given time are more susceptible to Noro outbreaks.

There was a news story on national media because a woman complained that 10 of her family members fell ill on approx. day 2 of their voyage on Anthem. I agree with the member above who said that the virus is very common and probably was brought ONTO the ship from land. FYI the ships are unde the jurisdiction of the CDC, and are inspected and given a score out of 100 possible points, a few times a year. They inspect EVERYTHING -- surfaces all over the ship, kitchen practices, food storage & handling, sanitation, plumbing, you name it. Anthem was inspected in August and got a score of 97. Grandeur was inspected in July and got a score of 100.

Wow people. Look...to some, getting an illness like Noro is no big deal. To others, it's the end of the world and they're dying. To others still it could actually be life threatening. It's unnecessary to judge or call names if an opinion differs from yours. I have decided to put my faith in the crew and RCCL to address this issue and provide a fun and safe trip. If that means a few hours more in the terminal than so be it. If someone else decides that they have to cancel I get it. I don't feel that way. I live understanding that not everything can be controlled. I evaluate and make decisions that I feel are best for me. Seems like that's what the other posters are doing too so let's let them do that huh?

your reply was right on, smart, logical and quite correct. we have seen first hand on our cruises the attention paid to keeping these wonderful ships clean. yes there will be times when boarding is delayed, but it is worth the wait. will be cruising a b2b on Dec.2 on the beautiful Anthem and not at all concerned. you will notice us because we will be totally wrapped in clear wrap and a Tyvex suit and oxygen mask, and beads. see you guys on board. cough cough wheeze wheeze

The beads add just the right amount of pizazz.

Noro is best prevented by washing your hands as often as possible. Hand sanitizer does nothing to kill Noro. I hope the outbreak ends today.

I don't know if anyone will argue with you, but I will not get the image out of my head on an Allure crew member unwrapping the plastic cover off of a 100 plastic champagne flutes and setting them out for a Upper Tier party. They bout their bare thumb and index finger on the rim of every one.

You can touch anything, just don't put your hands on your face, near your mouth, nose, eyes.. That's how you contract it. Not from touching something alone. Just remember to wash your hands often.

I have noticed Noro seems to be affecting Anthem more than other ships.

If we are going to use your logic. Why would you ever leave your house? There is always a chance to get sick. ANYWHERE. You might be the clueless one. LOL OF course even if you over eat at the buffet and get a stomach ache you will probably tell everyone you got NORO . and NO ONE would ever guarantee you wont get a stomach bug. You could just as easily get if from the self check out at the grocery store if you touch the buttons and touch your face.

People would go on a cruise and risk being exposed to Noro for the same reasons they still go to school, church, the mall, on a plane, or any one of the dozens of other places where people are in close quarters and the virus thrives.

I assure you I am not an employee nor am I an idiot. I’m just someone who knows the virus is present in many places, but we usually only hear about it when it’s on a ship!
