party poppers

I am due to go on regal princess at the end of the month. I purchased the drink package prior to September. I believe they now have a limit on drinks. when I go on holiday I like to party a bit, and part of the reason for buying the package is so that I don't need to worry about how much my drinks are going to cost at the end of the cruise. now I am.going to be worrying if I have gone over the limit. is this policed? I read it was at the cruise staffs discretion?

no I do not have a drink.problem before anyone asks but would have a few cocktails whilst around the pool, a beer with lunch, couple of wines with evening meal and maybe an aperitif. few drinks in the casino, one whilst watching a show and then a few in the nightclub.

seems like princess are becoming a bit of a damp squid and are appealing to the old and not so much fun passengers again. I have been sailing with princess for 25 years and there seems to be more and more restrictions being imposed at a whim to suit the cruise line not it's passengers

hi Paul have you experiences that happening? I think it' so wrong I know they are trying to stop people buying drinks for others but they need to be sensible about it both myself and my husband have paid for all inclusive. so why would I want to get drinks for others who haven' paid it. it' cost £1200 if we have paid that I'm not going to give it to someone who doesn't want to pay.

If we count "a few" as 3 drinks, I count 14 drinks in your description. The limit is 15 alcoholic drinks, $12 & under, from 6am to 6am. It appears you will be ok. The inclusive beverage package on Princess only goes back 2 to 3 years. It is reasonable for Princess to adjust the package once they gained experience. Believe a limit is in line with some other cruise lines's alcohol packages. There is no limit on non-alcoholic drinks

OP - I answered your similar post on the Ask a Cruise Question board earlier this morning:

I just got off a 25 day B2B on Princess with the drinks package (all 6 members of our party had it).

The package limit is 15 alcoholic drinks per 24 hour period (6 am to 6 am) and even that includes the wiggle room in the notification that enforcement is at the staff's discretion. I suspect (have not heard of it being invoked on either our cruise or on any postings on the Princess board) that If you are falling down drunk Princess will tell you that you need to wait for another drink until the clock resets. If you surpass the 15 drink limit in 24 hours and are still functioning, you will be charged the regular price for additional alcoholic drinks.

See post #2 of this thread for the details of the Premier Beverage Package: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/show....php?t=2545767

Just off of 28 days on Emerald Princess. We watched in Wheelhouse when they entered some of our drinks. When they slide your card (or in my case just entered the number as they knew it by heart on the second day) it brings up your cabin number and your name and also the number of alcoholic drinks you have ordered that day. After 15 drinks they had to charge for any additional drinks. If you were blotto they had the option to cut you off. I didn't see anybody who got blotto on the cruise. I drink more than most and had no difficulty with staying within the limit. 15 alcoholic drinks in one day is a lot.

OP: Please note that, at any time, you can ask a bartender to check the number of drinks you have ordered that day. By doing so you can easily see if you have a lot or a few drinks left for that time period. They will gladly check for you.

Has anyone actually hit the limit on Princess and been denied more drinks or charged for drinks ? Just wondering if it is being enforced or just given lip service.

My wife caught a bad cold and confined herself to the cabin and slept for 2 days. On those two days I spent extra time hanging out in the bar and wandering around the decks checking out all of the bars. There are 12 bars on Emerald Princess. About 1:00 AM I wandered into Skywalker's and they checked and said I had hit my quota. I was nowhere near wasted. They asked if I wanted to pay for the drink and I changed it from whatever i had ordered to a small bottle of San Pellegrino and wished them goodnight. I was surprised I had hit that many drinks but it had been a long day and I avoided my cabin for the most part so my wife could sleep. Soooooo...The answer to your question is Yes. They do check and they do enforce it. The staff was quite willing to serve me the drink as they knew me and could tell I wasn't blotto. I just figured that, if I had actually hit that crazy limit, it was time to drink some water and hit the sack.

I kept track after that and a couple of days I hit 10 drinks but never again got up to the 15 drink "free cutoff" limit. Many days I had 4 or 5 and a couple of port days only had 2 or 3.

Why blame it on a "typo" when it is clearly a failure to "proof read" what has been written.

A typo Is a typing error no matter how you cut it and I wasn't assigning blame... just explaining there was a typo and it might have happened due to an automatic function or the good old "fat fingering".

Community guidelines ask us to give a wide acceptance to spelling and grammar. But it can be annoying when nistakes send responders off on the wrong track.

yes very frustrating for me as the poster as I wanted to discuss the drinks package and end up getting abuse about poppers. don' even know what they are

May I suggest you start a new thread that is specific to your inquiry? "Party Poppers" has different interpretations and meaning to people and seem to be leaving your respondents confused. Before several of our comments, including some play on commonly misspelled words on this site, were removed I understood what you were saying and tried to address you issue. Maybe start the heading like "Questions about the Drink Package" would be more direct for you. Good luck :)

There is really no need for that. The OP could ask the mods to change the title of the thread or simply ask them to close it as the inquiry has been answered.

So if you were in Skywalkers @ 1AM, didn't the “drink clock” start a new day? If not, at what point does the drink clock restart or is it based on a running 24 hour period?

Never having sailed princess, I went into the thread thinking you were asking about those little toys that shoot out confetti. Then I thought, well maybe that’s the name of their drink package. 🤣
