Door decorations

I've seen the Disney ones! They are pretty impressive! I saw somewhere on Etsy when I was looking at all the sellers who make those decorations, that Carnival's requirements for door deco is that it is flame retardant. I don't know how much truth there is to that or what, but thought I would share that. On our cruise last year, I didn't see any door decorations except for one. I think it would be fun to do if more people got into it like they do on disney. Also wish we could piggy back off the fish extenders that they do as well. It's sort of like a secret santa type of thing from other travelers on the cruise. First time I saw people did that I was like....DANGIT! I wish people would do that on Carnival! LOL (I cant afford Disney Cruises...yipes they are expensive).

We decorated our door this past weekend and there were 4 others on our hallway that did. Unlike Disney, you can just slap some tape on that door as long as you peel it off later. Two doors had balloons, one had a banner. The only bummer is that we had our door decorations stolen once, so make sure they're securely fastened.

Blows my mind someone would steal a door decoration. Surely they didn’t have the nerve to post it on their own door:rolleyes: geesh! Sorry to hear that

NO, you cannot use tape on doors on Carnival ships. From their FAQ:

In the interest of guest and crew safety, the following stateroom decoration policies will be instituted and
strictly enforced:

    • Decorations may consist only of fire retardant materials. Please note that items sprayed with fire retardant spray are not acceptable
    • Decorations may only be placed on the stateroom door and not the surrounding frame, walls or railings
    • You may use magnets or Command Strips but no adhesives such as tape or glue.

I always cruise with a nice banner that I hang on my door with either cord or super strong magnetic clips. I don’t have a pic handy, but it is an undersea scene from Shindigz with “Cruising with the [our last name]” then lists all our first names.

When my daughter turned 10, I customized a vertical “Happy 10th birthday, [daughter’s name]!” with an anchor on it. Then I hung a sharpie marker from the corner grommet so that everyone who passed could write a birthday message to her.

We’re doing a cruise for her 12th birthday this spring. I’ve got another custom banner and I plan to do the same.

A friend just took a Disney cruise and I saw that they all decorated their doors.

Do people on Carnival? I think it would be fun but don’t want to be the only one.

If you do, post a pic!!:)

We did this for my sister's birthday a few years ago. It was fun and she loved it. We actually bought decorations at Dollar Store and brought them on board. Cheaper than ship prices.

Not all Carnival doors are magnetic. I had magnets with me, but they didn't work for Glory's doors. A friend had some double sided fabric tape that I used instead. My small decoration was also paper. I guess the policy was not "strictly enforced" during our cruise.

We used a stick on port hole, and brought it for the whole family 4 rooms in total. It was fun and easy. Makes finding your room after a few frog island ice teas a little easier....

So....i didnt have any drinks on my last cruise apart from the complimentary vodka cran in the casino...so whatever that frog island ice tea is...im gonna have to try it :)

Well...sounds like I am going to decorate my door then. Time to go browse ideas. 😘

On my recent cruise, I saw a few cabins that decorated their doors but not many. I've seen it more on Christmas cruises.

One thing that was curious to me on my Freedom cruise is the fact that the door was not metal, but the doorframe and exterior walls were. I usually bring magnetized pieces as they've always worked on other cruise lines. So this time I had to tape the backs of my magnets.
