Warning Dream deck 8 aft 9A wraps

Well....we finally finished looking at all of the cabin pictures from zydecocruiser last night.

 

I am really glad that they haved moved the divider to make those 9A's on 8 have the wrap balcony. But.....we are still disappointed in the cabin itself. It appears to be very small - compared to other 9A's we have had on other ships. We are very familiar with 9A's and expected it to be oddly shaped and the lay out to be unusual - compared to regular cabins - but we never expected it to be small :o. And it certainly is NOT the cabin - size or shape - that is still on the deck plans :mad:.

 

Now that we have seen the great photo layout of so many cabin types thanks to zydecocruiser we are really glad that we changed to the Cat. 11 when the first set of pictures was posted.

 

It is disappointing that we still have not heard anything from Carnival and at this point I will be surprised if then send us a bottle of wine for our aggravation :rolleyes:. But - at least we know that we have made a good choice - for us - when we changed the cabin. Yes - we will miss the aft and the wrap balcony :(. But we still think the change was the thing to do.

We have 8473 booked for August and have mostly the same thoughts. We will probably change to a cat11 (just wish they were not on deck 7). We will probably wait till Nov 12, when we will be on the Dream for a TA event in NYC and can see for ourselves. Like you, we think they have addressed to wrap issue but really not happy with the cabin size. Thanks to all who posted on the above subject!

I am the poster of the photos of the 9A on deck 7. I liked my room and didn't miss the couch or chair. We had plenty of room to walk around, it is hard to say if it has more room then regular room as it is a corner room and shaped differently. I would book this room again but not the Veranda deck even after they move the partition the room is just too small and a lot of wasted space.[/quote I have "your cabin" or maybe the one on the other (starboard) side-7459. A question: I am just starting to get some things together for our cruise. Do they have shampoo and conditioner in the showers? What are the items they have in the little shell bowls on the vanity. Mafiadon thank you for your little review of the 9A on Deck 7. We are in 7454 in March and my DS and her hubby are in the cabin next to us, so really didn't want to switch. I showed the pictures to my DH and he said we would be just fine. He is very easy to please. I have sailed a few times with no couch and we won't miss that. I might miss the chair though!:confused:

Thank you again. This is our first aft wrap. We were in the aft next to it on the Liberty and when my DH saw the balcony he said he wanted one just one time.

Mafiadon: From your photos of 7454 it appears that a big bonus over the regular cat 8 cabins are the additional windows. More views! Did you ever ask for a chair? Maybe by now there is a chair in the cabin. Otherwise, for those who watch tv, it would have to always be from the bed.

Did they have the lounge chairs already on the wrap balcony, or did you have to request those?

I can't imagine how I would have felt, having booked my "Dream" trip two years out, to eagerly open that cabin door and see whats NOT there!

I argee balconybound! We're with friends so switching all of our cabins really wasn't an option for us. I could still move to a regular aft on the other side of our friends but it would cost us $250! Not sure I want to do that. I still can't figure out where the bathroom is though - geez - hope there is one in this cabin :eek:

I'm glad we didn't switch now, even tho the room is on the snug side. I can sit on all the sofas I want before we cruise. I'll be out on that balcony;)

My husband and I decided to stay in the wrap too - rather than spending an extra $250 to move from a 9A to an 8G. We will definately spend a lot of time on the balcony. Thanks again to all for helping sort through this issue.

Looks like the shipyard did more than a mistake. Those are the smallest balconies I've seen aft. I've only had one aft and it was on the RCL Miracle. The balcony was 10' deep! I found I didn't like seeing where I had been as much as I liked the side balconies.

I guess that's what is nice about the wrap, you can see where you were in addition to having a side balcony:D

It does seem like the afts on RCCL are deeper - we had two loungers and two regular chairs on both of our RC cruises. We've only had regular balconies on Carnival so far so we'll see. I'm glad I have never had a true wrap so I won't know what I'm missing (too much). All in all I just can't wait to get on this ship!

John Heald's blog has pictures of the deck 8 balcony AFTER the work was done to move the divider. It looks like the cabins just in front of the wrap will still have a larger than normal balcony (just not as large as they were before!)

I couldn't tell from the photos of the newly modified 9a divider if the cabin in front of it 8462/8469 will still be a typical "L shape" with a bit larger balcony or not?:confused:

 

Anyone traveling in this cabin 8462 or 8469 before 12/19? if not I will take some photos. Would love to see some photos of the room and balcony.

From what I read on John's Blog a few weeks ago -- he was going to be taking video of many different cabins - including aft cabins, when he was aboard. I can only assume he did that, and at this point is holding out (or I should say Carnival is holding out). Although there were a lot of great (still) shots by Radu, there was not much in the way of video. John in the Lobby, John in the Casino walking outside and back in, and then his Catwalk (TEASE).

 

I appreciate all that he did relay back to us -- but for some reason I was expecting (ok- hoping for) more video. :confused:

 

As far as comparing the balconies of deck 6,7, and 8 aft corners. That was very tough over a year ago when the deck plans were released. I could not really decide - thus we booked ALL THREE (though over different sailings ;)). When you look at the plans, the first thing which stood out to me was the number of Cat 8 cabins between the corners. There are 6 on deck 6 and 8 - though there are 8 on deck 7. That tends to throw everything off, at least in an apples to apples comparison. They all appear to have pros and cons. Time will tell!

 

I (STILL) think that they should have taken the corners on at least one deck and made some KILLER suites. I mean... throw TWO in there at least! :rolleyes:

It actually looks as if Deck 8 has the bigger balcony than deck 7 now...more on the "aft" side, less on the side...but not by much. Note that in these pics, the deck 7 balcony divider is opened...looks as if the wrap "starts" @ the same spot on all 3 decks (or very close to)

Well, that description is almost accurate:) The 9C cabins (formerly 9As) are all a bit irregular. In this particular cabin, there are no sofa or chairs in the cabin. The balcony has several chairs, a table, and a lounger. We enjoyed this cabin, and I hope you do, too.
