What would you like to see on Royal Caribbean's new ship(s)?

Sorry to offend you with that joke, if you thought it was after you sorry, do you tend to complain alot or something?

Please don't worry. Although I do think the quality has gone down, I am not a big complainer. Just noticing the difference. My comment was just trying to make fun of your comments. I was just being ridiculous. Sorry.

I'd prefer a much smaller ship that is adult only. The big ships cater to families. Why can't we have a ship that caters to the mature cruisers? One that doesn't make us walk our legs off all the time with longer itineraries and more interesting ports - not just the same old ones in the E/W Carib.

Mature cruisers aren't likely to use flow-riders, climbing walls, skating rinks, etc. but we have to pay for them anyway on those big ships. The cost could be so much lower on a small ship w/o all that stuff.

WiFi in cabins with an unlimited use pkg for us telecommuters who can work AND cruise! More electrical outlets to support all the chargers.

More stair wells. We have to walk as much as 1/3 the length of ship just to go up/down.

Mini-golf and games on upper deck. Encourage more outdoor time. Bowling would also be nice. Outdoor gym equip like Enchantment is refreshing.

Smoking is my biggest issue - too many indoor areas w/o adequate ventilation. Even non-smoking night in the casino isn't tolerable for those of us with allergies to smoke.

Non-smoking Diamond/Plus/Pinnacle area for Happy Hour and perhaps expanded activities.

Single rooms - there is definitely a demand for them. Many of my single friends won't cruise unless they can find a roomie. It limits them severely.

Lots of seating areas with ocean views. Not fond of the Promenade concept of shopping places that no one uses.

3D movie theater would be awesome.

A beer pkg like the soda & wine pkgs. Change up the menu a bit.

From a business perspective, replacing the older Monarch and Majesty with something upscale and modern would make so much more sense than another huge monstrosity. JMHO

I appreciate your opinion, but please dont lump all seniors in the same catagory. I have used all these amanities at one time or another. One of the reasons;s I cruise is to get out and get the exercise I dont normally have time for. My last trip in October, my son-in-law and I took a canyoniering tour together. A six hour trip climbing, reppeling, tromping through the jungle.

I liked the Water Slides on the Carnival ships, more use and more fun than a Rock Climbing Wall.

The new Carnival ship is having a "Brew Pub" installed, make their own beer. That would be great too.

Although I haven't yet sailed Disney ( 9/11/11 Dream booked) I think their split bathroom is a great idea. Also think that the pullman's shouldn't open over the beds but maybe over the couch so mom and dad can still have their privacy.
The split bathroom isn't all that great. Imagine that they took the Royal Caribbean bathroom and split it in half -- what would you have? Two half baths that've both too small.

I didn't care for it, and I am a small person. I can't imagine how big men get in and out of there -- they must literally have to back out.

Here are just a few things that I personally would really enjoy on a RCCL ship:

1. A lazy river in the solarium (no kids)

2. An enclosed waterslide (main pool)

3. making it MANDATORY that any child under 12 has to be with a parent.

4. Happy hour

I would like to see a ship oriented toward three generation cruises which would include family suites with two bathrooms, good children's programs, dancing venues with music that appeals to baby boomers, etc in a setting that never lets you forget you are on a ship (such as Radiance class ships).

...It sounds like you need to go on any of the Disney Cruise Ships! It would probably save you money, since RCI seems to upcharge for some much stuff nowadays. Good luck, enjoy!

More elevators.

More embarkation agents.

Less passenger per tonne density.

Less bingo announcements.

... (agents) would be a staffing issue, not a ship feature issue

... (less passenger per ton) would be a quality control issue ... more along the line of how much public space management wants to offer

... (bingo announcements) would be quality control ... and a method to increase revenue.

As an aside ... I would be HIGHLY offended if there were more than a few announcements made during the day. All of these are under the auspices of how a company wants to *manage* their cash flow. To me, it does not sound like an enjoyable atmosphere.

I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see some kind of classy locker system on the pool deck and/or solarium!!!! The hubby and I burn, not tan, so we are not interested in getting a pool chair and sitting forever. If we're on the pool deck, we're either in the pool or whirlpool. I would love to have a secure place to put shoes, shirt, shorts, towel, and sea pass cards while we are swimming.

Wow, I only went through the first 35 posts ... was surprised to see how much RCI is lacking. Most of the items (quoted below) have been on Disney's ships since 1998.

I would like a balcony cabin that will hold a family of five, with possibly two bathrooms (or at least two potties).

...Family Stateroom with verandah, since 1998

=====

multiple pools- esp a "beach pool"

... three pools on a ship for 2500 guests ... including one adult only pool, since 1998

=====

A covered or partially covered deck adjacent to the Windjammer (or buffet) for outdoor dining.

A running/walking track that does not interfere with pool patrons.

A self-serve laundry room.

... DCL buffets have indoor and outdoor dining ... the outdoor dining is partially covered, since 1998

... running / jogging / walking track separate from top deck activities, since 1998

... self serve laundry (multiple locations), since 1998

=====

an ADULTS EXCLUSIVE enclosed pool and/or other space.

...Adult only pool, since 1998

...Adult only entertainment (entire area off limits to minors)

=====

Heated pool.

... You mean your pool ISN'T HEATED? DCL pools are heated to 80 degrees everyday, and they use FRESH WATER, since 1998

=====

"Upscale", yes, more expensive ship where one can expect excellent service, every dinner as though you were in a specialty restaurant, etc, etc. I feel RCI's goal is to fill ships to their capacity, hurting food quality and service at the sake of lowering prices.

... Disney's rotational dining not only provides excellent service (servers know what you like by the 2nd day), but each dining experience is different each day. There are no repeat dinner menus, no repeat uniforms (except tuxedos). On DCL, there is really no need to head for alternate dining accomodations.

I'd like to see a waterslide, preferably one that protrudes over the ocean.

... DCL has had waterslides for almost 10 years (I think). Of course, they have the first water coaster that protrudes over the ocean.

=====

A truly "adult" space. No one under 21....

Expand the specialties..charge more..and include beverages.

...again, DCL has adult only entertainment district ... no minors allowed in that wing / section of the ship (same for the adult pool area). I am not sure why you want to be charged MORE (LET ALONE, AT ALL) for specialities. Most is complimentary on DCL ... including soft drinks ... as well as hors d'ouvres at the piano bar in the afternoon, or when you come out of a late night show.

=====

Okay folks ... you're telling RCI what you want on a ship ... why not check out a cruise line which has had what you are asking for ... on its current ships ... for as many as the past 14 years? :D

Actually, MOST of the items listed are already on most of the RCCL ships already. There are a few that are not (like waterslides are not on their ships that often). I think people are stressing what they want on ships, because there are some that do not have an item, or are not planned out the same way. With such a larger variety of ships (Disney has just 2 classes after all), you find things on some RCCL ships that are not on others. Knowing this they are requesting to make sure it is on them.

I've done both the Magic & Wonder, as well as 5 different RCCL ships. It's apples to oranges a bit. Some things Disney does do very well, some things not as much. It's a different experience that's for sure. There are also a number of things that RCCL does that Disney does not, so people might miss them if they're not there. I agree that people should try out different lines though, certainly to try them out. But I can also say there are many people (particularly those older or without kids) who aren't about to try out a ship with 1,000+ kids on it and shows revolving around Disney music *grin* (Even though I must say, they have excellent shows!)

I'm guessing a lot of people are perhaps looking for these things at a more affordable price than what Disney charges.

Return to ships were the connection with the sea would be restored. A propper Prommenade Deck, they should take a close look to Vision and Radiance Class- an the amount of glass the used for them- which provides exactly those great views. I could do without this nonsense, Rock climbing wall, Flow rider, this dark inside Royal Prommenade, the bungee thing ( oh well the whole Oasis concept does just not work for me) create public rooms with sea connection!

Not to be rude, but let's try to do this in a more realistic fashion. Because, the fact is, they basically need to add about 250 cabins to a Freedom-class ship, so there isn't going to be a lot of room for anything else.

After perusing the deck plans, I don't see a whole lot that can go without angering a large portion of their clientele, except for maybe the Ice Rink, the Conference Center and the Art Gallery. Maybe those things could get a new idea or two, but if these go, they'll still need an alternate showroom so they wouldn't clear up enough space for many cabins (though a "Singles' Center" like the one on NCL is probably going to be a gimme somewhere on the new ship).

They're not going to get rid of pools or the gym/spa or the restaurants (in fact, they'll probably add some), so I'm fairly certain this may mean the end of the Royal Promenade as the three higher levels surrender a lot of cabin area. I don't think the cabins overlooking the Promenade were all that popular anyhow, but the airy space was nice. Let's hope that they don't go back to the old cramped, low-ceilinged shopping areas that are on Radiance-class and below. Two stories would still create an effect.

Okay, so here's my wish list: Dump the Main Dining Room and lengthen the Royal Promenade into this area, making it two stories instead of four. Create a bunch of new restaurants and keep the free ones near each other with menu boards around the Promenade.

And don't make us pay to use the steam room or sauna!
